I was thinking of some ideas,
First one was increased aim assist (I’m thinking prototype smart gun, so it doesn’t have to work the exact same way)
Other obvious choice is auto targeting.
But my current idea is that it marks enemies with on the hud with a triangle (cloak counters this) and every version I mentioned would work on a timer activated with the change fire button
The first smart gun probably wouldn’t be that smart, so no aim assist.
The first “Smart Gun” would probably be more mobile then the mini gun, have the same aim as Dutch 2025 with the action hero perk, and “aiming” would give the player thermal vision for a short amount of time.
My idea of a smart gun is reused Predator gear, mainly parts of their helmets that zooms in on targets, hence the red triangle,
Yes it absolutely would be more mobile than the minigun since it’s a primary, however like how the minigun adds a backpack to your character model I’d like the smart gun to do the same thing like in aliens with an additional arm.
I don’t really like the idea of a prototype smart gun giving thermal. The entire point of a smart gun is the gun is smart, not just giving the person better target acquisition.
That was my thoughts as well with the thermal, I guess I should have specified the Predators version of the thermal. With the Predator’s marking capabilities
Well we have to take a few baby steps before we get to the point where the gun becomes the Iconic Smart Gun, and giving the operator better target acquisition is that first step.
Besides this is SGZR we’re talking about do you think they’d have the brains to make proper Smart Guns.
The gun could hack and solve equations since it’s a smart gun.
The Colonial Marines’ Smart Guns could probably write a novel.
SGZR’s “Smart Gun” probably wouldn’t be able to solve 2+2

True but that’s why I think marking enemies is a good middle ground. Plus it keeps the core of what makes the smart gun a smart gun.

OWLF would definitely go for aim assist, but because SGZR becomes the Colonial Marines I was thinking they’d be the ones to make the Smart Gun first.
Where is that coming from anyways. I’ve only seen it as a theory.

And yes it is a theory but it’s an interesting one.
Another interesting part of the theory that someone, I think it was @Slasher_Clone, brought up is before The Predator there was a prequel novel. In that novel SGZR actually had contact with Weyland Corp or Yutani Corp, can’t remember witch might have been Yutani.
Plus as @Rr19 pointed out earlier SGZR has the Alien spear from AVP, so they most definitely had dealings with Weyland at some point.
Who knows maybe the OWLF and SGZR merged together and became the Colonial Marines.
Seems a bit far fetched to me. A bunch of illegal alien arm dealers who were ex military go back to
being military but doesn’t even know what aliens are anymore.

It does seem as if he’s hinting at something off world to Yutani’s rep.
I don’t think it’s a bad theory, that STGZ becomes the Colonial Marines but it likely isn’t as straight a connection as us fans would like.

The two games titles for some reason just ring familiarity for me between the two. I don’t think any of these two games will cross over, but who knows in the future what both franchises might bring us. I still believe the Stargazer Patch’s look waaaay to similar to the colonial Marines for it to be coincidence especially when both properties have existed together before. I’m really excited for Aliens FT though even though it might just be another bug hunt. Just make it a great one! Lol

I think it’d be cool if the smart gun shot Plasma instead of bullets, if some variant of that gun came to this game
