Yes, it is the role of the parent to teach the child what is and is not acceptable, and to punish/reward accordingly. Thankfully, I have had the privilege of having parents that taught me discipline and morals, and that is something I hope to pass down one day.

Unfortunately, too many people have parents who simply don’t care enough to punish them and teach them right from wrong and enforce it. My parents always said that they punish me not because they don’t like me, but because they care enough that they want me to know the difference between right and wrong and turn out well in life. That is one of the truest statements that I have ever heard from them, and a key principle of parenting in my opinion.

I just googled around and found lots concerning children and violent games, movies, media and the effect they can have on kids.
Everyone doesn’t get affected the same way, but the risk of having kids getting affected by things at the wrong age should be avoided, therefore following information on game packages and the recommended age for certain games.

What i do is not be lazy and rely on someone else to tell me whats right for my children to do or look at and decide for myself and teach them whats right and wrong my way… Should they watch cattle slaughters? - is it educational? did they ask where meat comes from? …

Should you sit and force them to watch endless cattle mutilation, no… but ill decide what is right for my children and they have only killed 4 people so far “cuz itchy and scratchy did”

And thats rated for children…

Did your horror book have voice communication with other readers who were being either salty, toxic or both?
Did your horror book have graphic scenery of you drinking and becoming intoxicated, shooting, killing, raping and stealing cars etc?
There are 6 year old kids playing games with content mentioned above, but equal to you there’s nothing wrong with that i guess.

there is nothing wrong with it as long as its explained by parents. thats my view.

LAzy parenting with no input is what causes violent assholes and messed up kids.

Guess what my 4 year old son and my 8 year old daughter and me and my GF sit and watch game of thrones… OMFG?!

Nah, it’s up to the parents to teach children about online stuff like that.
My main point is that it heavily depends along the maturity of said child, and how well the parents have prepared them for it.
Personally I say that

Should not be given until a child can fully understand why that it is bad. And yes, some of the ones I read when I was 12 and I understood why it was bad.

But people being toxic etc has always been a part of multiplayer games and that won’t change, so as long as the child can understand that that toxic behavior is wrong and does not stoop to that level, then there is no problem with them playing those games.

Anyways, as long as the child (this can also apply to some adults) can show maturity and remain respectful and not be toxic/salty, then there should be no problem with playing the game.

I’m not going to discuss the parenting thing anymore so no more replies to that, like i said, there will always be good and bad parents.

As for the ingame matter with the microphones, their quality and volume, i wish we could have an option to allow a maximum decibel from the ingame voice chat, everyones microphones seem to be sending out at different volumes. a dB meter would solve it.
