If FT gets stalled in one place, all their pigs spawn by the compound they’re stalled at.
If its an FT that keeps moving the pigs despawn rapidly.
Discourages camping.

Yeah I was just thinking that its a timer that controls this and it started to make sense, but here is the thing. I just finished playing against a FT that was quite challenging and they were at the same compound for 6 full mins according to the timer. There was only 1 pig around the compound all this time! (I scanned)
Which compound? Like the big one at derailed usually only spawns pigs near the fence and if they’re outside the vicinity no pigs pop up. Same with standing in the water at Backwater, there’s no spawners there.
There’s a couple iffy pig spawns near the map boundary that rarely pop because of how close they are to the edge.
It doesnt matter which compound. Every compound has its usual spots. I ve seen ridiculously many spawns and equally ridiculous lack of spawns. I guess it becomes worse when a team moves fast from compound to compound but this time they were at the same place for 6 whole minutes. Map: Backwater top left compound at the map.

This reminds me of a match I remember distinctly playing. This team was hard off the bat. And I had already killed one boar ahead of time. Yet when the team decided to chase me the whole match I couldn’t find a single boar anywhere on the map. The FT camped the only Boar I had to heal. (Smart play)
Still sucked though.
You can be outside the vicinity of the spawn. Backwaters swamp has a spawner but FT can avoid it by standing out in the water bc the only other pig spawn there is by the mission area and the exfil even though theyre just a small sprint away from the mission
How do you know where the pig spawning spots are?
Get camped out enough by FTs lol. Instead of engaging them I test pig theory while i’m waiting for them to move.
Yes! It’s been several times when I really don’t want to waste a heal kit, cuz I know for sure I’ll need it later (strong battle) but when I try to look for piggies (activating the isolation), I get NONE!! Not even in the places I know they spawn a lot.
Yup, this. And since less experienced FT tend to spend (or waste if ye prefer that term) a lot of time doing missions or just aimlessly wondering around a single camp - it’s no wonder you’re getting more pigs while playing against 'em.
I remember that the pig spawn was around the host.
Has the pattern changed from pigs appearing at the spawn point closest to the host of the match?
Yeah, that’s why Large Pouch is a must have if you aren’t doing a challenge or meme build. Can’t rely on pig spawns, so its best to bring large pouch just in case.
Pig spawns are weird.
Sometimes you get alot of pigs on the map, sometimes you can’t even find one for the whole 3 minutes.
You cannot demand of the player to dedicate 1 perk slot to large pouch because the pig spawn is unbalanced!
I was almost sure that its related to the time a team spends on the same spot, but after I started this thread yesterday night, I played with a challenging team which stayed at the same compound for six whole minutes. The game barely spawned 1 pig!
It makes me think its related to the damage each side has accomplished.
But if that’s the case, it makes no sense, because it gives advantage to whoever is already winning the game, regardless if its the Predator or the FT.

Tell that to IllFonic pal. I wish I didn’t have to use it, but pigs are too unreliable.
I don’t play pred much so I couldn’t say, but I do have a friend who plays mostly pred. And they’d gone a whole match without seeing pigs until they found them all huddled in one corner of the map. I have a bit of game dev experience. (Went to school for it so I have a bit of understanding of behind the scenes.) And I had theorized that it may be a spawn cap issue? Most games limit how many ai you can have spawned in any given area. If the fireteam is activly playing an area they usually spawn a ton of ai. So maybe that leads to the pigs not being able to spawn where they should? If a pred is following the fireteam closely and they are spawning lots of ai, maybe the pigs are just spawning too far away to be easily sought out.
Again, I don’t play much pred, just some speculation.

Your just not looking hard enough. One pig starts at the pred spawn.
Also the pigs spawn the more damage and the more you engage with the ft!
