I'm a murderer

Seems there was some metallic residue on the sensor

How old was it? Have you maybe spilled something? They do wear , ive had to replace a few usb adapters on them aswell , batteries are cheap also . Handy to have

Brand new

I bought maybe 6 months ago and only used it for a weekend

Not so good , as long as its working now?

So far so good

It would literally make me look up randomly

Yeah its a pain in the ass , it used to move me forward when ADS in certain games

I’m just gonna chalk it up as busted

It has to be right?

It must be a connection issue with how the right stick is attached to the board

I dont think they are built to last

Might as well pick up a soldering kit and switch out the boards

Maybe start a cartridge restoration gig on the side

Easy money . I switched a couple of boards and one didnt work .I’ve no idea if it needs to be a very specific part , I cant remember if I got it from the model code or not . But there are always broken controllers on ebay , nice little project

I have resurrected my controller!!

It only took me about a dozen times of opening it up and tinkering with it and watching a few videos but I can say that it is 100% fixed

Which one

The one with drift

I learned that there is a contact piece inside the housing of the analog stick that is removable

I cleaned it and now it works good as new

The one I broke is still broke because I ripped the battery connection off the motherboard instead of unplugging the battery 🤣

Also I should note that I was trying to fix the wrong one too 🤦

I imagine I can just re-solder it to fix it

Persistence pays off

Contact piece? Silver metal bits?

Yea

Once you open up the flaps on the stick there is a piece inside of it that can be removed

It’s plastic and metal

I cleaned the contact point on the inside of the flap and presto good as new

Of course I did forget to reattach the thumbstick so I had to disassemble it…again

If only someone told you about those pieces last night 🙄
