Just to confirm, Cleo comes out TOMORROW

Hey, I like it. It’s neat, I guess. I low-key like to think that the predators might’ve inspired certain cultures clothes. Didn’t AVP say that they taught humans how to build and stuff? Not too outlandish to think certain Predators and their hunting parties also taught humans how to better utilize clothes and stuff.

AVP is not canon. So no. And I’m not sure a predator would inspire culture, when it’s hunting people. More myth, or something of that nature. Like in the original film. Where Anna says they called them “the demon who makes trophies of man”

I beg to differ but, I will respect your opinion and end this now, to prevent an argument that possibly might get our of hand, as that’s the last thing I want.👌🏽

I honestly don’t know about others, but I’m not exited at all about another Pred reskin with similar stats with another melee reskined weapon.

The weapon is a sword egyptian

One of the more interesting aspects of the Predator mythos, notable even in the first two films, is that this is precisely the kind of idea that it introduces. If humans have been hunted by these things throughout our history, of course each culture that has come into contact with them will have rationalised them within their specific cultural context to some extent. That’s why Anna has a name for it, and why King Willie also knew what to expect from this foe. It’s not something that AVP introduced at all, just expanded upon.

It’s probably a reciprocal relationship too. Certain cultures may have been influenced in their designs and iconography by their encounters with predators, but the predators too have been shown to keep mementos and perhaps even emulate cultures they respect as worth foes. It’s a chicken and egg thing.

It’s a double sided thing! Thank you for wording this better than I did. I was trying, lol.

Yaaaaaaaayyyy , a pred thats nothing to do with what alot of people know the IP for , I cant wait …to hear your disappointment

Wait , king willie had some previous knowledge about the preds? Or was at least aware they hunt? I thought he spoke in the terms of voodoo and demons etc?

In the world of of Predator, and the extended world of AVP, much of human’s culture was based off the Predators and Engineers.

Tales of Gods, Spirits, demons, etc. It all came from these two advanced civilizations respectively. Or at least a large portion of it.

So voodoo was based somewhat off the yautja?

I’d assume so. Or it was likely already an established thing amongst humans but fucking “sky warrior demons” and shit furthur influenced it.

The predator franchise fits so well with one of my favorite quotes, a very famous quote that pretty much goes; “Any technologically advanced enough society is indistinguishable from magic” I mean seeing the shit Preds can do now is amazing but to our early human ancestors and whatnot, you could onlky describe everything they did as magic and mind boggling.

I’m not excited about another “cosplay” Pred. Not at all. I would have preferred decent skins/shaders instead of the colorful ones we have now. We need lore-based masks or something… and of course, less bugs. Didn’t get the Valkyrie Pred when it first came out and won’t get this one now.

Mmm…😐

I don’t think it’s as simple as that. The encounters with predators would be incorporated into their existing belief systems, along with any other real or imagined phenomena the culture encounters. Humans have an inherent tendency to rationalise the world around them, and various cultures would do that in distinct ways, but underneath it all there would be some grain of truth, passed down across the generations.

Something that comes up a lot in the (good) EU stuff is that people more in touch with their ancestral memories, via their culture, are often better prepared, at least mentally, when they cross paths with a predator. Rational scientific scepticism can be a liability in those cases, where definitive proof is often encountered too late to save the individual. Think Dillon in the first movie.

So King Willie doesn’t know what he’s up against in an objective, scientific sense (i.e. an intergalactic space hunter on a week-long trophy binge), but his familiarity with his cultural heritage at least allows him to recognise the scenario unfolding and have a general sense of how it’s going to play out.

Yeah but Anna is not dressing up like them… it’s just a wack idea
