I remember that I went with my parents into a dvd store who sold them for like nothing and I spotted Predator and Alien DVD’s not knowing what those movies were.
My parents told me they’re iconic ones and we bought them.
We watched them all together when I was like 14 and this was the moment I feel in love with both franchises.
Predator is one of the first movies I remember watching with my dad , I didn’t get to see the whole thing , but I got to watch the end where dutch fights jungle hunter .
I have been a fan ever since 😁 I remember you could get the early action figures of avp , and the pred mask came on and off . They were legendary

While this film IS going to be an absolute coat-hanger abortion of a beloved sci-fi franchise (zero doubt in the mind of any clear thinking person with no agenda, I’d wager), I don’t remember anything about the lead being gay, just that she wanted to be a warrior. The bigger issue should be that of a child with zero technology or guns (it’s pre-european btw) defeating a 9 ft tall killing machine with tons of Alien tech. Not who she may or may not scissor with. The issue is that since Predator 2, lead humans have gotten progressively softer and so have the Preds, making them easier to defeat. It should go the other way. This woman should be say, mid/late 20’s, at the height of her strength and a well trained hunter/warrior maybe even with some mysticism to go up against a Pred. But what do I know? I just have a speck of common sense. Given the current trends, all sensible ideas go right in the dumpster.

Well, Kevin Peter Hall was 7’3" and in the suit, he was much taller. I’ll go with say, 8’. I can’t find any actual photos of him in costume next to a tape measure, but I am basing that on BTS pics and video of him in costume, with the biomask off. The head is pretty tall, plus he’s wearing prosthetic feet.
And if not liking the idea of a child defeating a Pred makes me a misogynist, then fuck it, I’ll wear that t-shirt, cuz that’s a shitty idea.

Nah, if they go the bear route it would be best if the Pred kills it but loses access to its plasma caster during the fight. Things like that should be used to draw it out and impose limiting factors, not as a straight surrogate for the protagonists own heroism.
That’s what I define as a technical win. Because while technically, the child may land the final blow to the Pred, the bear did all the work. And, to stick with the women’s, we can call that specist-plagirism because not only would she be taking credit for something else’s efforts, but due to the location the story will take place in, it would be a “black” or “brown” bear doing all that damage to the Predator! That’s just not acceptable, so the whole film should be cancelled! 😉

I’d like to know your opinion on Japanese cinema, particularly Westerns, where asian actors interpret white american characters… Why is it okay for them in their cinematic industry do it, but not ok in America? Why is it okay in Bollywood for hindi actors to interpret american characters, but not okay for americans to do the same in hollywood? Is it Hollywood any better or more important than other cinemas? Isn’t assuming that, racist in itself?
Japanese society is not a multicultural and multi ethnic one (which is a problem of its own, because it originates in Japanese imperialism, racism, colonialism and xenophobia that are all still very much present). It’s literally an ethnostate. So lack of representation there is a problem, but a different one.

Even Japanese that aren’t born there will never be considered Japanese. The world is not a utopian marxist melting pot, people segregate themselves into their own communities in america even and america IS the melting pot.
Had a better time in “racist xenophobic imperialist” Japan in a month than I did two days in glorious authoritarian china where they will openly just waste your time for committing the ultimate crime of being both black and american.
But america isn’t either. You go to big cities and sure, there’s people from everywhere around the world, but in the vast majority of cities in the USA that is not the case. More than 70% of the US population is still white, the other big group is not even African American, but latinos, which also happen to have a lot of “white” people among them, although, aside from Argentinians, most latinos are mixed european/african/native-american, regardless of their skin color (example, my older brother is white, I’m brown, my mom is white, my dad is black, my grandad was white, my grandmother was brown, I have cousins in all colors, my wife is white, her mom is brown, and the list goes like that for pretty much everyone else.)
