I got a good feeling that the bear will be what the humans think is what’s killing people, they send out an attack party to kill it which includes protags brother. Brother and friends die and protag goes after bear for revenge only to find out it’s not the bear that killed them.
She’ll warn the tribe, they won’t believe her, she’ll go after it and in her time of need the bear will come by and maul the pred. The bear will probably die and protag gets the final hit. She’ll take his skill and bring it back and be crowned chief.
