It would probably be good from a game play perspective, but I don’t think it would make much sense from a lore or “alien physics” perspective.
Personally i think the game should have been like this
Even if they dont nerf the plasma caster and bow, it wouldnt really matter much tho, cause even if the preds spam those… the fireteam can adapt
Two factors I long gave up on, but if we’re being picky we have seen it be incredibly hard in all other media to hit a moving cloaked pred. The above clip of Jerry in Pred 2 mag dumping into city hunter.
The infamous “mow down the jungle” scene in the original barely wounded Jungle Hunter.
The same with Royce unloading at relatively close range on the Super Preds…
For a game mechanic purpose it acts as a shield but lore wise it’s just their plot armor
I mean yeah, i dont wanna go in the details about how the guns act in the game against pred but i wanna personally talk about how cloak is still trash and sound design tends to break.
Again i personally wouldnt mind the slight nerf on the ranged weapons for pred, why im againts it is, it will give the devs confirmation people are up for nerfs on the ranged weapons and then they will keep nerfing them even if people dont like more nerfs.
And we seen them do that countless times lmao… and on top of that we wait another week or month for it to be reverted… and they either forget or there is a new meta that they end up nerfing thats not that serious
It would just be a balance issue at that point. Totally get what you’re saying but at the same time I can just picture an impervious elder stalker dumping 1 shot plasma down on a FT that can’t counter as effectively now because of impervious cloak
ye then at that point its either they decide to give a shot 50 50 chances of like no nerf at all and letting people adjust to the new gameplay mechanic, or they slight nerf and then go from there… personally i would be up for them nerfing like splash damage and radius in the case they enhance the cloak passive ability and also fix the textures of it to allow better invisibility for pred… than just leaving it as it is XD
Also i am lead to believe if they only spent time trying to fix how predator cloak and sounds overall work, the game would still be somewhat alive ngl… but then the other part is how boring the game becomes, at least it did for me cause the gore was minimal.
I get what you’re saying, but I think it’s simply missing direct hits or the body armor blocking the shots, or in the case of the “mowing down the jungle” the predator was simply long gone.
Another way of doing the armor thing could be a totally separate bar for armor and health.
The armor would be non replenishable and would reduce all damage taken to health by 25%. Scout would have the least amount of armor points, like 2000 🤷♂️, and berserker would have the most, like 5000. This might seem like a lot of armor, but because it can’t be replenished, it would still result in the same squishy predators we have currently by the end of a good match.
They could even add damage textures for the armor, similar to how the mask gets damaged.
Well technically… i could have also used the same idea for the armor and which i did as well like 2 months ago, but i dropped it cause people didnt care… in general it would work the same as cloak principle except the damage would be dynamic the further you are and the closer you are.
They could also add like a small hud on the left which displays your armor health and biomask health as well that goes from like green to red or from like cyan to red to look kinda alienish
I mean, if you are cloaked you don’t get damage (only energy which regenerates so you can go take cover, uncloak and regen)… why would you nerf damage? wouldn’t be needed if you play smart.
nerfing damage to one side is just assisting dumb ass players. that’s what got us where we are with all the buffs side to side.
I mean yeah thats my ideology as well to why it shouldnt be nerfed.
But i dont wanna be so harsh on people who are trying to make compromises and look out on the outcomes.
In all fairness its fair to say fireteam is able to hide and even do missions sometimes by just camping somewhere where they cant be hit, so thats another thing… main thing is, avg players do actually hide from plasma spam who would have thought xD…
But yeah the rest of people are prolly kids who just play the game cause idk they have no actual goal the game is just cool or they got it for their bday or xmas… idfk…
Like and also ur able to punish the pred as well even if one guy goes to shoot at the pred from the outside.
This may be a little too complex though I think. I mean every buff to the Predator health has been “Increased Predator Armor” and we’ve never gotten a clear definition of that (at least as far as I’m concerned)
Okay so…I apologize if this isn’t clear. I assumed with most of our past discussions you would know that my stance is both sides need nerfs and that a nerf to one side also equates a nerf to the other proportionally. Lord knows I say it every time you and I are in a thread and the topic of nerf/buff comes up.
I also explained in an earlier post that I can see the current one shot being abused more if this type of “shield” were implemented. So that’s why I stand where I stand. FT overall damage still will need a nerf, maybe not as severe if something like this were implemented, but it would still need to occur to balance gameplay.
Let’s face it though, it’ll never happen so no point arguing theoreticals
Yeah i mean i think it has to do something with predator being easily killed up close… so in general they have been nerfing how easily you can melt predator from up close like 5 meters or less…

Ha. Yes. Not that “Armor.”
That “armor” is simple. As you lose health the final 500 health points take reduced damage up to 25% at 0 health.
So if you have full health you take 252 damage from a sawz50, but if you have 250 health remaining, you’ll take only about ~ 210 damage.

yeah pretty much armor like in that sort of position lol… which nobody asked, i believe nobody even asked them to make armor based on that sort of mechanic…
Like i remember it was me and few people still asking like first month or two for armor to be sort of its own thing that does not need replenishing and it would work simply by reducing the damage taken from a far and the closer you get the damage will be greater for example.
That would have been a nice.
Part of the problem is that the predator rarely feels threatening, because as the Fireteam you know for a fact that you can do more damage at range than the predator can do to 4 players and you know that you can melt the predator if they get to close.
Against a coordinated squad, predator’s only effective option is to grind Health down, but this usually takes too long considering the length of missions and the availability of health kits and resupply bags.
