I’m with you about the controller. It is much better for movement than a keyboard. But for aiming, a controller cannot beat a mouse.
Most people don’t know, but I’m a hybrid player. I play with XBOX controller for movement, and mouse for everything else. I just can’t get used to the keyboard, it makes me feel like I have arthritis.
Absolutely true, but it doesn’t matter as long as everyone is using the same device.
I mean, is not like you can’t use a controller on PC.
Pretty sure that is not the only reason why you choose console, as that option has been available for PC since like… 30 years ago
even games that do not officially support controller gameplay can be played with a controller using steam. albeit the performance most of the time leaves a lot to be desired
On console, everyone must use a controller, so it’s fair, and emulators can’t perfectly replicate the point to point aiming of a PC.
I played Mech Warrior 2, battlefield 2, battlefield 2142, and aliens vs predator 2 on PC back in grade school and high school, so I have a well informed opinion.
well, that is not technically correct. while on console most games play on controller, modern consoles do support K&M but the game has to support it
I’ve never had a problem with emus using controller (who wants to use K&M for a emulator anyway?)
And that would likely be the end of my “competitive gaming” experience. However, if acceleration restrictions are placed on mouse aiming and controller aiming has assists for acquisition and holding to target, then the difference wouldn’t matter much.
I’m referring to emulators that console players use to have k&m on console games, sounds good in theory, but console games are rarely optimized for that type of input.
What can you use as an example for you arguement?
Most console games utilize an engine that is basically pre-tested on PC unless they are console exclusive. To put simply, they are developed on PC therefore their methods for playing on PC may forgo what they expect to happen on console. for FPS, its more likely they will be playing with k/m before console controller. however for 3rd person perspective they are likely to play on controllers. But if its the controllers they are going after, they might add more “aid” like aim assists and such. Ie, AC games always have that aim lock and assist.
I guess the Xim Apex is really good, but my point is the inherent limitations of the sensitivity and non linear acceleration of some console games won’t work well with a mouse “pretending” to be a joystick. Also, there is a tiny amount of input lag with k&m emulators, probably from the input processing.

I think aim assist is the fair thing to do
on COD MW controller players have an advantage in close combat because aim assist locks on target quicker than Mouse, while mouse players have the advantage at ranged attacks because of its precision
IMO, that’s a fair compromise
The problem on PHG with controller is that basically there is no aim assist. And if anyone develops one, it would probably be considered cheating by some, even though the game really needs it
True, there is no programmed aim assist at all.
There was a post before, but it i believe it was simply ones acknowledgement that they can strafe while aiming to provide a kind of support to aiming, but its not doing anygood because its still very linear input. Where as mouse provides as much force/quickness as one can do with their hands.
Aim assist being garbage or nonexistant is always the telltale sign of a lazy port and it turns off most console players from the game because its considered standard for console shooters to not feel like ass. Exception being the small amount of people that enjoy janky raw input shooters with awful aim settings.
Warzone would not have a playerbase on console without aim assist.

When aiming with a controller, the screen smoothly accelerates and decelerates in whatever direction you look.
When aiming with a mouse, every flick of the wrist or hard 180 turn, makes the view look spastic.
Im fairly certain that since anyone who buys a ps5 will have hands on experience with plugging in their mouse and keyboard from their desktop or laptop will experience the same expereince as PC players do. Its just a matter of time folks. It could mean something cool or something disasterious. Meaning no more potatoes. Just meat heads.
Turn up your aim smoothing or find a $15 mouse with DPI settings instead of using an office mouse.
I do this too, it is easier to do the fine-tuning of your aiming by strafing/walking if you don’t have perfect aim or a cheap mouse like me.
I also support the Idea of auto aim.
There is a little auto-aim involved in the plasma rifle, but it handles very weird.
You need to lock the head of AI in the center of the hipfire crosshair, then, even if the head moves inside the white crosshair, you will automatically score a headshot.
But this effect gets negated by perks like weapons training or action hero.
Not going to happen because typically people buy a console to play it in their living room on their couch with their 60hz tv.
And we’ve seen the opposite happen in RDR and Halo, where the aim assist is so oppressive that there’s no point in using a mouse for medium or short range engagements because of snap aiming and bullet magnatism.

I am not talking about a personal experience. For example, I cannot enjoy watching other people play PC games, because the screen moves around too much and too quickly. I hope that is clear. If not, I apologize.
Its probably the most expensive (not by much) but it will be a very personal experience in the future as gaming being a TV4k experience, as will their desktop. I imagine more people wanting to be closer to their TV distance wise as this is their way for social media and video conferencing. They will want the most real-life sized experience possible (like their bathroom mirror).
Expect that PS5 be in their HDMI1 port and Windows will be in their HMDI2 port and having enlarged icons. People in the past have/will adjust their OS for this.
in my experiecne, this has been my evolution. Ive evolved from a dozen different setups to suit my PC and gaming needs.
Lets just say the Bat Computer is a real computer now. and that the gaming lounge chair will be merged with the computer.
