It failed because matches just became hide and seek and it got old fast. Otherwise it wouldve thrived free to play and it didnt. F2P gave it like an extra month to live then the playerbase fell off a cliff again. The gameplay loop killed monster queues. Stage 1 was bad game design, from there the later stages just snowballed one way or the other & they never ever fixed it because nerf pred buff ft, then they gave the 4 man easy mode domes that they can’t miss lol. It was pvp but somehow you ended up playing the exact same game every match, no variation.
I honestly think Valve was the only reason Left4Dead was good & turtle rock had no idea wtf theyre doing on their own.
Humans didnt have any other objective or win condition other than chasing the monster.
Its like playing PHG but every match is just FTs relentlessly chasing you and they drop a dome that you have to play ring around the rosey in.
they tried way, way too hard to try to push it as an e-sport.
Every single asyim since learned from Evolve to give the 4 man the objectives, not the solo person that already has to fight 4 people.
