You could argue that not using downsides is objectivly better because it gives better power fantasies but even then that would mean anything balanced around everything being broken so nothing is broken is the best way to balance and that doesn’t mean using downsides is objectivly bad.

This part does suck and so does powercreep stat adjustments. Like if every DBD killer was Trapper with .25% more movespeed
I think theres a difference between tradeoffs and just outright taking control away from the player. There’s nothing fun about the game slapping the controller out of your hand while you wait for an animation to finish while the guy runs away so you can continue playing in a pvp arena game.
Atleast phg gives you an option whether or not you choose to claim/slam/eat pigs rather than locking you in animations against your will
