Ya that’s a lot of farming/grinding on disgea.
It played one of them, it was fun but didnt feel like doing all the farming.
You might enjoy advanced wars, fire emblem and xcom.

I don’t like farming/grinding. Then characters are OP and there’s no need for tactics. I try to see how far I can get without it. But, i guess for those type of games, finding efficient ways to grind/farm is it’s own strategy.
But yeah, that’s what I mostly play. Not that it’s to late to play fighting games or PvP, but it would take time before I’m any good.
Triangle strategy is a very good fire emblem type game. I’ve seen some XCOM, and even though I couldn’t understand anything, it looked like my type of game.
From the games you’ve mentioned I think you would enjoy those as well.
We play differently, I try to get my characters as strong as possible, but its different with disgea.
I just wanted to have a bunch of different units and it was going to take forever. I wanted to see what each one was capable of.
But fire emblem and xcom are different.
You cant keep farming in that way.
Like eventually you have to move forward.
As for advanced wars, man were they fun.
I only played 2 of them, but I absolutely loved advanced wars: days of ruin.
I think you would really enjoy that series.

Advance wars looks does look good and tactical. Plus it had a multiplayer.
This is how Im playing disgaea. It’s only story unit, no shops, no hospital, RNG heavy for items. It’s a bit lame sometimes, but it all depends on the map; sometimes you can afford to be defensive, sometimes you need an all out assaults. The Geo panels and terrain matter a lot as to how efficient you can be. On top of that, D2 has dark world levels were an extra layer of RNG is added that is mostly set against you, but sometimes help as little.
In Spectral Souls i soloed the whole game without grinding. Other games have Nightmare difficulties. That’s what does it for me.

Since when playing ft solo is a challenge ? You can still have a 90% winrate if not more. Last time I lost a public match solo I was trying something with the minigun.
And so are the potato Predator players. They only notices your presence when you have already taken half his hp. Sometimes you can snipe him 4 times with the sawz before he realizes where you are at.

I was a noob at one point, so I understand the frustration of those below average players. I was also one of the best ft players at one point, so I also understand the frustration of those who are above average. The difference is I got tired of it after realizing that the game was no longer a challenge for me and just moved on. If I play now just occasionally maybe once every few months is just to chill with friends and not in any serious way. There are far better games out there that will have you sweating the entire match even if you’re above average, because they implement skill based match making, something that PHG does not.
So, my advice is just enjoy the game for what it is, a casual asymmetrical hot mess that is fun to play with friends, but not so much when you’re alone whether you’re good or bad.

Well, your only options are keep frustrating yourself even more, or find another game that’s actually gonna bring joy to you, because the devs won’t balance the game in order to please everyone.
So, the choice is yours.
