An animal kills to eat. Or like Life 2018 where its self-defense. Aliens are outright biomechanical killing machines that just want to fuck up everything around them gruesomely doesnt sound animal at all. When they arent killing they go to sleep and wait to kill some more.
Their two functions are killing and sleeping.

They need other species to breed. So them destroying everything around them sounds natural. That’s how they keep the species alive. True on earth no animal does that but a lack of real life example doesn’t change that. Especially since they’re fictional aliens.
My guess is (was, but no everything has to have a complicated backstory) they came from a very hostile planet so they evolved to be the Predators.
Plus I don’t think anything your saying really denies the aliens of being animals.

Aliens lost that energy, AvP2010s been the only game to bring it back in the executions. Isolation made more of an easter egg out of it.
Honestly the creepiest part is the audio. Veronica Cartwright does the single greatest job of creating the tension and fear throughout the entire movie. That stutter choke though…freaks me right out
