Not sure I’m gonna be on, buddy. Found out today I’ve got carpal tunnel syndrome at my appointment. At 20 years old, dude. Was told to lay off the games some more and find employment elsewhere so it doesn’t worsen. Also need to wear a brace on my hands for a good while

As far as gaming, carpal tunnel there may be a positional thing. You’ll just have to hold controller differently or have cushions when using M&K. Was the doc explicit about this or just gave you the ‘dont do it or take it easy’ option. This would be harder to do at work since it’s physical and to apply force you may need you wrists in certain positions.

Doc said I need to wear the brace while I sleep and should look into less physical work. I already had plans to look for employment elsewhere, even go back to school for IT security. But I mean… My uncle got me this job and I work with him everyday. They took a chance on me. And while I’m very good at my job, I simply can’t keep up the 200% attitude in all this pain. The next few weeks are gonna be hard…

Agreed, you shouldn’t keep it up for risk of disability or chronic disease. You’re still young and you have options so that’s a good thing. There’s a notion that young people do whatever cause they think as long as there’s no acute consequences, it’s fine. But some illness are very slow going and then you could be on meds forever or live a life of pain.
