Commissioned Yautja OC Cards for PHG’s
Sure thing
I’d feel concerned on the part of someone commissioning an artist about being scammed too. Why not have it so both parties are less finanically anxious, and they pay half the deposit to sketch it out and the other half filling in color, details etc? – though I don’t see it being worth $45 USD, mainly because its x2 as expensive in Australia lol
Well the half pay can go downhill badly when you do this work and suddenly the person backs out. Doing all this hard work and not getting the full payment is extremely upsetting. As for the $45 that’s for the whole thing: background, full body detailed art, mask, customized symbol.
It takes a lot to draw some of these art pieces and it’s extremely challenging to do small details for the character. It’s not that I’m trying to suck money from the buyer, it just takes extreme amount of details for what needs to be made. Especially when drawing digitally with only your fingers rather then having a mouse and keyboard. But anyways I do provide update showings of the art work if the buyer wishes, so they have full control of what they want.
Edit: also sorry that rule was meant to be “Payed in full upfront”.
Does this happen often?
We’re all trying to make dough at the end of the day, no shame in that. I applaud you for the concept of the artwork. Although I personally wouldn’t know what I’d utilise it for.
1.) It happens more often then anyone would think, but due to artists having a “no confidentiality” or something like that to not expose the buyer, most artists don’t speak up on the subject.
2.) Personally I’ve been debating about the prices, I wanted them to be free and give to the community. However with more commissions came more time consuming detail, and it was a lot of work for something free so I added prices. All of which where perfectly approved by other artists believing it to be reasonable prices.
Guess I’ve been lucky so far aha – I’ve also had an artist ghost me. I guess if as either an artist or a client, I want there to be insurance for both sides. But you seem reliable to produce what you say you’ll do, so props.
Yeah I recall one artist telling you to bump up the prices in the discord xD
We all want it to be a perfect world where stuff like this happens, but yeah that’s why most artists want to be payed fully upfront. I do promise my clients that I’ll begin once they pay me upfront and so far I have a happy list of customers.
Lol yeah they are one of the people who helped me out with the prices.
Spread your wings a lil you’ll be surprised 0-0 … I reckon the only instance of requesting full pay upfront (for me btw) is either by request of the client, or the client’s history (i.e. are they trustworthy with timely owed payments etc). And if they prove to be unreliable consistently then decline the commission.
I mean I might do it with clients I’ve worked with and I trust, but I won’t with first time buyers. That’ll give me enough time to get to know the person and so I know I won’t get screwed for the art I work with.
That’s reasonable then. I’ve made quality friendships thru commissioning emotes etc.
As have I, some of those artists I worked commissions with are some of my greatest friends.
what part?
I “MIGHT” (strong on the might) make hard copies just for fun. For now though they are just digital works.
Cool, and just a thought if you do make hard copies you could mail them to people in packs and make charge an extra $5 for shipping.
I thought about it, again this is mostly just digital commission fun but if it ever comes down to it and I make a full deck then yeah^^
Yeah, at least it fun, also if I got a full card including an extra background, would that be $55.
What do you mean by extra background? Like more detailed then the ones that everyone else have?
