Comparison. Food for thought

Trust me though and I think we can both agree, I wish it felt like it made an actual difference.
Everything is so lack luster.
And ppl are so used to it they think old valkyrie was op lmao

My fundamental issue with it isn’t even tank or no tank.

Every pred is hit and running with caster they are virtually indifferent. Compare this to like AvP2 where classes each had a completely different approach. Scout vs the tank class there is night and day they cant even navigate the map the same way. Specializations are a step in the right direction in terms of differentiating classes, but they’re still just glorified stat adjustment perks to stack ontop of other stat adjustment perks.

Pretty much.
I think ppl consider them different because they play differently on each class.
That’s the best reason I can come up with as to why they think its different.

But different play style doesnt mean different class. Idk why people dont see that.

man there is some real facts over here

and no every good predator does the same 2 things
they use bow they use Caster

melee weapons are a meme
netgun and traps are a meme

there isn’t really a diffrence between the classes aside from the “melee classes” get to meme harder

and everyone else gets to be worse than hunter

What kind of differences are you looking for? Greater differences in health, speed, stamina, gear space, etc?

Or something completely different like a totally new ability for each class? (Which is somewhat accomplished through specializations)

an easy way to describe it to you is look at how FT can difference themselves
FT can equip multiple weapons that gives them a different specialized range of engagement
FT have speciation’s that give them a special perk to ensure a playstyle
FT have unique passives that specify the behavior they are supposed to use
FT have unique gear to help them perform a certain strategy very well
FT have perks to round out their build

compared to how every single Predator
1 has to use bow and caster to be competitive by actually just cover shooting
2every other thing they use is such a high risk that often isn’t worth using
3 cloak doesn’t work against players with ears
4 runs the same 6 perks to cover their weakness or to have high enough dmg to avoid counterplay
5 there is only one gear that is good and it’s the one the heals you
6 the difference between classes are minor stat differences with the only large change in gameplay behavior is melee damage which is a meme

every predator is mostly the same as they always revert to number 1 and don’t do much else

to make classes distinct they have to incentivize predators to do something that isn’t all number 1

These tend to be the same people that say “well then stop using caster use this war club instead”

but why though?
why even put objectively crap things in the game just to bloat the roster.

each pred in AvP2 gets about 3 weapons.
They each play and synergize better than the entire roster of weapons in this game.
Same for marine weapons. Everything is usable and fills a niche because they weren’t focused on quantity over quality. They intended to fill roles which is what classes + weapons are supposed to do at the most basic level. Before going “DUDE WOULDNT A PRED HAMMER AND A PRED CLUB BE COOL TO SWING THREE TIMES LIKE THE OTHER WEAPONS YOU SWING THREE TIMES” they stopped and asked why tf they would need both.

someone please tell me the niche of wrist launcher ill wait

Not gonna lie. Unpopular opinion, but I think the caster and bow are too strong, that’s why the “competitive preds” use them. IMO, the Caster doesn’t consume enough energy and the Bow does too much starting damage.

I do understand your overall point, but that doesn’t mean the entire class balance in place needs adjusting.

The caster could be toned down if the other weapons got a small buff I agree. But as is if you nerfed it predators would be fucked. But I do agree with you

I think the caster should be destroyable after enough explosive damage

They’re too strong because everything else is terrible.

You have an AOE ranged weapon that outdamages melee and is safer than melee with the tradeoff of revealing your position.
Then you have a bow which is also ranged but single target and harder to trace.

ok two niches, thats fine.

Next we have netgun which technically isnt even a weapon and exists solely as an attempt to make melee viable vs parry.
Parry itself is a design issue purely because melee is built around stringing together 3 swings at point blank range in a 4v1 game with a few seconds TTK and there is nothing else you can do with it aside from slapping people once and sprinting around.
So we operate on the assumption we probably arent going to get more than one backstab in before they spin around and parry unless theyre netted (and call this playstyle melee lol) which really means people only use elder sword and sickle anyway because of the speed and initial hit damage. and not vs people that know what theyre doing at which point…why even get into bad habits

you’re jumping in asking to be subjected to the only stun in the game and get melted, it will never be on par with ranged. Outside of what some kind of armor system or bullet resistance when you’re in 3s ttk range with a melee weapon? It doesnt matter there are 4 players on FT, its not hard to hit a pred that is quite literally stunlocking himself using melee watching the tracking ice skate around. People ask for mixups for leaps for the same reason, you’re just stuck in an animation with no input watching yourself getting sniped midair. Uninteractive gameplay in a pvp game and is the reason players expect animation cancels.

People would sooner bunnyhop headshot with bow at point blank because atleast they have freedom of movement and arent rooted to the ground hoping the melee tracking works on a sprinting target.

Melee takes everything out of the pred players control and just locks them in an animation that risks locking them in a stun at which point you’re just gambling how fast the FT can break the net or spin around and stun you. Your reward for your nonsensical gambling is some trifling single target damage that’s negated by the target sprinting around with a syringe.
You can’t fix this one with stat adjustments on stat adjustments.
Horrible design for a multiplayer game, moreso for a 4v1.Reminds me of when Rebellion thought stealth kill trains were a good idea for multiplayer.

the thing is your not wrong and it’s not an opinion

Caster and Bow are OBJECTIVLY the best weapons the pred has

and while i don’t agree you should nerf them cause if those are the 2 weapons that have stood the test of time of a year of patches

every other weapon/strategy should be brought to a similar point as them now how would you do that?

idk i’m not a game designer and now i have a (relatively) better game to fill my multiplayer whims so while i’ll surely come check in every patches i don’t really care to theorize how it would be done anymore

all i’ll do now is strive for a better game

Have you never played a game with different classes?
You play smite.

Do hunters feel like warriors?
How about warframe.

Does Excalibur feel like volt?
Warframe nor the best example because everything can blur come late game builds.

For them to be different classes, they have to feel different and have unique abilities.

Every single class, pred or ft, have minor differences in them, and they all feel the same.

Just because you use a different play style on a different pred. Does not mean its actually a different class.

Sometimes Mages feel like warriors(hades) and sometimes Hunters Feel like mages (Chernabog) but for the most part you’re right 😂 we should play smite sometime 🥊

Doubt youd like how I play lol.
I still play with a season 3 approach.

I need to one day quit smite lol.
But that depends on build, which would fall under my different playstyle example lol.

Btw fuck hades.
Hate that god.
