Devs- Why make Mythic/Secret items no-one can get?

It did when it first came out at launch. They removed them over the backlash they got.

I know this because not only did I buy bf2 I bought the ps4 pro bundle. I played the game for a week before I got fed up with the Micro Transaction’s being the focus for progression. Haven’t been back since. heard the game is better but I could care less.

What do you mean no one can get?
Arent all cosmetics unlockable with that currency you get ingame!? its 7500 or something for the purple ones…

No there are hidden items only obtainable through the boxes

Because people like things that are rare. If everyone had it, it wouldn’t be very mythical. I personally don’t like stuff just because it’s rare but this is the world we live in. They’re exceptionally rare, that’s that.

I opened 181 boxes in a row and only got a knife skin, everything else was trash I could have just bought… That means I can expect to grind for about 30+ hours to buy another 100+ loot boxes and expect similar results. As a person who has played Runescape since day 1, I’m no stranger to grinding but this, this is just tedious and super not worth it.

Here’s that universe for you given current mechanics;

You spend 100 hours in-game sweating your ass off for those 1-100 chance challenges. You’ve finally finished the final one and you’re now equipping the final piece for what would be in your opinion the most badass looking predator.

You screen cap it and post it on the forums.

BobbyBee replies back - “nice, i finished mine a few days after the change by farming in private matches”.

Now your accomplishment means nothing, It’s just a cheap gimmick that even a scrub can earn by farming his friends.

Your name is very appropriate.

Ah yes, the attempt at a personality jab when you have nothing on topic to say.

Classic.

With that kind of response, I’d be glad to let you have it?

That’s cute. It’s not as though your post was full of mindless, primitive bullshit but okay.

Reads like the diatribes I saw way back in the day on the League of Legends forums when Riot re-released skins they said wouldn’t be available anymore. Either a skin is good in one’s opinion or it isn’t. Anyone who judges skins based on how exclusive they are is a primitive jackalope.

I also just on a fundamental level have almost zero respect for people that write crap like “sweaty” and call people “scrubs”.

Anyway, if you don’t like that the game lets people grind a certain way, it’s a topic to bring up with the devs, not a reason to bash players that use the tools at their disposal.

I would like all current secret items able to be earned in online only quick matches through milestone objectives. This would show accomplishment, give something to grind/work towards, and acctually let players attain the items the devs spent time conceptualizing and creating.

I have no issue with how it is, by all means find the part where I said I did.

OP has an issue with RNG vs “earned” cosmetics hence the slightly cynical write up.

Clearly not obvious enough.

51h - 0 Mythic items

106 hours none…

LOL. The ol’ “I was trolling, you idiot” response. Brilliant

Bit of a dishonest example there as the challenges could easily require online matchmaking to obtain and I don’t know why you find challenges with rewards so distasteful. What better endgame after you hit level 100 than a bunch of difficult challenges that give the player something to continue working at, especially for us PC players who don’t have achievements.

The OP doesn’t like that someone at level 20 may obtain a Mythic item after 3 hours of play whereas a level 100 with 100 hours may never see one. It’s not fun and very much not worth grinding. In WoW, you at least had long, difficult raids with a very clear reward that obtaining was a fun challenge in itself. The drop is still random but at least everyone in your party has a shot at rolling and you can trade it to whomever needs it.

This idea that anyone could grind for it is a bit of a joke as terrible players and new players wouldn’t be able to complete the challenge and therefore mythic items would only be owned by high-level, skilled players.

Anyone else notice that they are called " standard field lockers"? Maybe they intended to have various versions but didn’t implement it. You would think we’d get a special one for level 100.

I think the meta just needs to be improved/reworked. I mean, legendary items should be hard to get. But I feel like this is TOO much, haha. I’m 92 and haven’t gotten one. I’ve unlocked a TON of lockers. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Id be fine with how rare they are IF i made any money after lvl 100 v.v

So the question is do you have a right to the rare lootbox item because you’ve played the game and perceive yourself as having earned it? I think no.

These random loot boxes are labelled as ‘addictive technology’ in the UK.

They work by stimulating the brain in the same way gambling does. You get a high when you get a good reward, and then keep chasing after that high when you don’t.

I suspect the only reason these boxes are still allowed in the game is because they don’t use real world money to purchase them and therefore son’t fall under gambling legislation.

We all know it’s still a virtual form of gambling though. It’s a pretty unethical mechanic and potentially harmful.

I remember when games use to give you a warning during the loading screen not to play for to long and take breaks. Now they use these addictive technologies to tempt you to play more.
