Future Maps

What does everyone want for future map concepts? I would love to see a city map, although they would have to figure out the fireteam dynamic. Maybe change them out for police or a swat team.

I think the issue is more in how they’d implement the Predkour system. Illfonic has said in the past that they wouldn’t do urban locations because of it, but I think they maybe able to work in construction equipment, scaffolding and power lines. But then there’s also the issue of being able to cover the Predator as there wont be foliage.

Personally, I just want some more Preded up maps. Perhaps based around crashed ships in the jungles or etc.

I didn’t even think about the foliage problem. I would think that they could implement some sort of building climbing system like fire escapes to climb up for example. Also like you said maybe cranes or power lines for traversal. I would also love to see some maps with Predator themed areas like ships.

The problem is implementing the “Predakour” system in it and also balancing the map to both sides. Yeah he could jump to top of small buildings or climb fire ladders, maybe jump from lamp post to lamp post, but they have to balance it to not be unfair to the Predator or the humans, exemple:
Tall buildings:
-The Predator’s weapons are quite slow, meaning the humans could easily dodge it
-The fireteam would have a harder time hitting the Predator since a open flat on higher ground could give the Predator a safe area where he could back up
-The Predator could be vulnerable when climbing to the top of that building

Lamp post:
-Not tall enough to give him advantage
-Not enough mobility

Maybe what they should do is implement a map where is a mix of both, so they could use it as a testing ground for a actual city map, maybe create new gameplay mechanics for urban transversal like expanding upon his “pounce” jump or add a “ledge grab”.
Maybe have something like this, but with more trees around.

The idea of a reclaimed city is pretty interesting!

Yeah, Crysis 3 enviroment was pretty cool and the game makes you feel like the Predator(well, the whole series did), now imagine maps like these, raining and/or in dusk or dawn. Not only a interesting map, but also a pretty good way to test a future city enviroment.

Some different weather effects would be lovely too! Whether they’re specific to certain maps, or just a dynamic feature of all the maps - I’d love to see those to add variety.

Great concept pictures! I would love something like this.

Yeah dynamic system could be pretty cool too, Evolve had a interesting idea of the map changing which could help both sides depending on how they use it. Could be interesting if they add a raining mechanic that temporarily negates camo for both sides until the rain stops, or some light fog just to give a better atmosphere.
They only need to find a right balance for both sides, specially for the Predator since his tech can be easily messed up.

Something like intense rain that disabled cloaking and the mud, but also severely reduced the visibility might be interesting. Lightning strikes causing interference in the vision mode, blind spots for the fireteam.

Oh, and another idea would be the Preserve Planet from Predators. You’ve got the different sky box, you get things like the Berserker Predator camps, the drilling rig (or other random alien tech), the cages, etc.

Maybe rain negates camo for both, but actually helps the fireteam by making their heat signature harder to track, while fog makes the Predator harder to spot. The options are numerous, it’s up to them of how they want to evolve the game.

Oh this one, many people would like to have the “preserve planet”, and that could be a awesome expansion in the future, like adding Predator based weapons to the humans(like the ones used by Noland) and the Super Predator.

Have it like:
Objective:
Humans: Have to run across the map to gather info about the location of the Crucified Predator to escape or kill the Super Predators.
Predators: Kill all the humans or let the time run out

Mechanics:
-3 players vs 12 humans;
-The first player to die can come back as the Crucified Predator and help the humans escape;
-All three Predators plays a important role in the hunt: Falcon uses his falcon to keep track of the prey and get their location, Tracker flush them out or distract them with his hellhounds, and Berserker deals heavy damage and gets the attraction to himself while others flank;
-Enemies would be aliens.

That’s something else I would also really like. Missions focused around the Predator. I get the thematic elements of the current setup, but there’s only so long that will sustain. I’d like to see more Predator themed objects - like retrieve a downed Predator, secure a piece of Predator tech, secure a downed Predator ship, etc.

You mean predator-centric objectives for the fireteam? Yeah, that’d be interesting, and you could form a loose sense of chronology between the missions, i.e. the first couple of encounters are incidental, then becoming more concerted as the team realises what they’re dealing with. You could even cobble together map rotations into an actual campaign, if you wanted to go that far.

On the urban environment front, I don’t see the issues regarding traversal and cover being at all insurmountable. There were plenty of low-rise / warehouse areas in Predator 2, and you could use smog, steam, and glare from neon signs to obscure a cloaked predator in lieu of foliage.

Also, this is probably going to stir the pot with fans, but what about a snow-bound environment, like an abandoned whaling station? There are already snow-themed camo and weapon decals… 😉

An abandoned station just like in AVP would be awesome. It would also be cool if they considered the temple environment from AVP as well. They could integrate close quarters areas and moving walls to make it interesting.
