I’d say get it on sale if at all. It’s fun for a while but it’ll get to you. Then you’ll be like everyone else and only occasionally play because you’ll get fed up, switch to something else, then come back until you’re fed up again. Its a cycle of boredom and strife.
If you really want your own perspective just browse the forum sections and see what there is to be said about whatever.

Its not. I bought it at full price at launch, and I certain got my money’s worth, but after over a year invested in it, the fun disappears very quickly. You’ll win some matches, you’ll waste some Preds or take some skulls, but you’ll see where the scale tips to favor (FT) and the high skill ceiling you’ll need to reach to beat them. Then it just becomes a boring cycle. I mean it can be fun to play a few matches to waste time, but there are better games out there worth your time.
It’s a $40 old game now. $40 at launch was fair, considering that’s the price point for many “early access” games and that’s pretty much what this game still feels like.
$40 now I would say is not worth it. It goes on sale every once in a while. Buy it when you can get it for like $5 or $10. Usually goes on sale for 50% ($20) and , at least on Epic, there’s always a $10 coupon somewhere waiting to be used. At $10 right now I’d say is worth it.
A lot of people will say they hate this game, they uninstall it, blah blah blah… 90% of them come back in a few days or weeks because honestly, is fun to play with friends. Solo, yeah… you’ll hate it and will unlikely touch it.

Those are words I understand but not in that order
Pyro is good counter to spy. (High healthpool, flamethrower damage range, etc vs low health pool, typically only go for stabs which require point blank, reliant on stealth). Stacking of Pyro’s makes it extremely hard for even a good spy to get kills and survive.
The stereotype for Free to plays are that they typically aren’t that good, or playing the game casually since they aren’t spending money on it.
Put those 2 together and that f2p spy is going to suffer.
