Okay, so we all know that the game gives a lot of XP points for like every single thing you do in this game.
You pick up some VT? XP. You claim a FT? XP. You shoot a Predator in the knee, that’s XP. There’s even XP Boosts both from Redeemed Offers and for Queue Boosts, further increasing the XP Gained, not to mention a actual XP Perk for both Predator and Fireteam.
This is great for new players wanting to Level Up.
The problem? There’s no benefit whatsoever, if you’re Level 150, Max Level. Legit no reason to even care about what you do as Predator or Fireteam.
If you’re Level 150, as Predator, you don’t care about Long Claiming or scanning FT. You want to kill them faster because you don’t Need the XP.
If you’re Level 150, as Fireteam, you don’t care about Defusal of Predator Bomb/Body Minigame because you for sure don’t Need the XP if you play mainly FT.
And so we have so much XP per Player wasted just because there’s a actual Level Cap for whatsoever reason in a game so keen on giving XP for a reward. I’m not gonna pretend like there probably isn’t already a Cap increase on the way soon enough, but that’s like a band-aid on a infested wound.
We need solutions, and frankly there have been some ideas but I think I got it down.
A Battle Pass, yea yea, “Mo Money” but hear me out.
I watched that Halo Infinite Multiplayer Reveal a day or so ago and the Battle Pass system really spoke with me.
Imagine Battle Passes that come after the other with cosmetic items like Armor styles (Elite Fireteam and what not), Colors, scars, stuff like that. But they don’t go away after the current one has run it’s course. Each one remains in the game as like your personal reward system, and you can choose from each Battle Pass as you so please with no conditions. And this all will be taking XP gained in game into account.
Players actually playing for XP might happen again with an addition like this. Predators might actually have to juggle “Should I Long Claim here? I kinda want that new Shader rn”, or a Fireteam might actually want that new Hammerhead cosmetic and be like “I really wanna learn how to defuse.” Then wouldn’t you know it, players are playing the game with the mechanics that are already set in place.
