Just to confirm, Cleo comes out TOMORROW

Wait , king willie had some previous knowledge about the preds? Or was at least aware they hunt? I thought he spoke in the terms of voodoo and demons etc?

In the world of of Predator, and the extended world of AVP, much of human’s culture was based off the Predators and Engineers.

Tales of Gods, Spirits, demons, etc. It all came from these two advanced civilizations respectively. Or at least a large portion of it.

So voodoo was based somewhat off the yautja?

I’d assume so. Or it was likely already an established thing amongst humans but fucking “sky warrior demons” and shit furthur influenced it.

The predator franchise fits so well with one of my favorite quotes, a very famous quote that pretty much goes; “Any technologically advanced enough society is indistinguishable from magic” I mean seeing the shit Preds can do now is amazing but to our early human ancestors and whatnot, you could onlky describe everything they did as magic and mind boggling.

I’m not excited about another “cosplay” Pred. Not at all. I would have preferred decent skins/shaders instead of the colorful ones we have now. We need lore-based masks or something… and of course, less bugs. Didn’t get the Valkyrie Pred when it first came out and won’t get this one now.

Mmm…😐

I don’t think it’s as simple as that. The encounters with predators would be incorporated into their existing belief systems, along with any other real or imagined phenomena the culture encounters. Humans have an inherent tendency to rationalise the world around them, and various cultures would do that in distinct ways, but underneath it all there would be some grain of truth, passed down across the generations.

Something that comes up a lot in the (good) EU stuff is that people more in touch with their ancestral memories, via their culture, are often better prepared, at least mentally, when they cross paths with a predator. Rational scientific scepticism can be a liability in those cases, where definitive proof is often encountered too late to save the individual. Think Dillon in the first movie.

So King Willie doesn’t know what he’s up against in an objective, scientific sense (i.e. an intergalactic space hunter on a week-long trophy binge), but his familiarity with his cultural heritage at least allows him to recognise the scenario unfolding and have a general sense of how it’s going to play out.

Yeah but Anna is not dressing up like them… it’s just a wack idea

Where did I suggest that humans have been dressing like predators?

That was the original argument made. People saying that samurai and Viking predator, inspired samurai and Viking. Meaning they did not adopt that culture. But that culture adopted them. Which is… stupid

I dint think that was what was said, I think it was more along the lines that their presence influenced some cultures to a degree , like a less known mythic being? Not everyone would have had an encounter , but most likely were told the legend around the campfire?

Seemed to be implied lol

Maybe it was 😄
