All I know is I’m hyped to see what’s next!
New Gamemodes confirmed/ DLC structure.
I’ve been out of work for awhile, so I kinda forgot how businesses do vactions. I used to work for Gamestop before covid hit, I should of known better lol.
Did you work corporate or retail? Unfortunately, they’re two totally different worlds.
I’ve worked in both retail and corporate. Something like what I said wouldn’t fly as easy in the retail world where employees are hourly.
But in corporate America where the majority of workers are salary-based, which is the work environment employees from illfonic reside — it’s totally normal to do something of that nature.
I worked from the retail side of things, so I did not have the informarion on corporate side of coin.
One of my best friends was a Store Manager at GameStop.
Yeah, retail employees can work any of the 7-days in a week and in the states around me Sundays are time and a half.
Office workers typically are Mon-Fri 9–5.
Did your store shutdown from COVID-19?
Yup I was seasonal and I was going to be full time. But then covid hit and since I was still seasonal at the time I was expandable bad timing for me.
I hear a lot of rumors that GameStop is about to bite the bullet
From the announcement of the digital PS5 yeah probably and there sales practices are not consumer friendly as much anymore.
One time they charged me for the disc warranty without my consent on a whole bunch of used games. It’s annoying how they ask to buy my phone everytime and all their ‘incentives’. Hopefully this creates a space for a videogame store all gamers deserve
Yeah, my buddy that was a Store Manager saw the company financials and paid attention to projections and didn’t think the GameStop would last much longer — at least with business model they had at the time. And that was about 1–2yrs ago.
There top priority during black friday was Pro memberships, game warranties, and pre-orders and if you say your not intrested in pre-orders without hesitation they would list off all upcoming games and ask again. Luckily my old manager didn’t make me do that, but the new one is relentess on those questions. I Pre ordered Ghost of Tsushima at Gamestop cause I wanted own a physical copy, but most of the time I go digital to avoid stores anymore.
My buddy felt the shift to digital downloads rather than people buying physical copies of games was a big problem for the company. He also said, profit-margins were much better for used game market than selling new discs.
I stopped buying physical games since I had PS4. GameStop could survive they just have to basically change everything about their business
Umm, no employees could be salary. But not entirely. They could be freelancers and thats not entirely uncommon if they are concept artists or audio engineers or voice talents.
Umm, yeah I said majority of employees are salaried workers. I’m a graphic designer and my entire career has been as a contractor which is often hourly but sometimes salary like my current role.
In this discussion we’re not talking about audio engineers or voice-over talent; we’re talking about news notifications from illfonic concerning July’s DLC content which would be handled by persons most-likely to be full time salary-based workers.
Even tho companies are relying more on contractors like myself, most positions are still salary and even some contractors are salary, again like myself. Hourly workers are in the minority and none of which would be working on a weekend, except for social media personnel and those positions are typically full time salary as well.
And News updates drop in the forums as an announcement then after the DLC drops is when social media advertising is implemented.
