Picking and choosing Server-Host style?

Think we are at the point where the randomness of quickplay is deterring a ton of players from wanting to play the game and top tier players not knowing what to do or how to play in games.

Are we ever able to have the ability to host and pick and choose lobbies we want to join (host-server style)???

Yes we can add people and so on through friending them on our respective playing platform, but if it is there for players to just simply pick, surely it may be easier?

Thoughts?

(I know I butchered the name of this style of gaming, think AVP 2010, where you can host a game and people pick and join your lobby sorta deal)

i’d assume eventually this will be a thing where you can host a private match but turn the lobby into a public lobby where you could search for gameplay rules you perfer like hardcore hunt etc…

This would be cool. But still how would you know the skill level of the players in these lobbies

Maybe in the title of lobby the host can put their desired “caliber” of player to enter?

You’d need dedicated servers for that, which they’re not likely to implement later in a game’s lifecycle when they don’t have them already.

Private matches are p2p, with the lobby creator as host.

Quick play matches are on dedicated servers, but they can fall back on p2p when necessary.

Really? I thought it was all P2P, with the servers only providing matchmaking duties. I vaguely recall hearing that the backend was being provided by AWS.

This is quoted from a while back when this topic would come up very often.
