Oh, so curious about subspecies and variations that we’ve seen?
I’d classify them into 3 main groups: Classics, Supers, and Feral.
Classics: JH87, CH97 (albeit a different race of classic), Greyback, Scar, Celtic, Chopper, & Wolf.
Supers: Mr. Black, Falconer, & Tracker
Feral: Feral
The Classics are the baseline species of Yautja, and the most common. Most preds will fall into this category. CH97 has enough differences in color, pattern, quills, & skull shape that I would classify him as a Classic, but a different race. If you want me to speculate on why the Yautja evolved the traits that they have, I’d be happy to.
The Supers are the normal yautja, but on steroids. They likely evolved on a separate continent or other isolated area that required the Yautja to be larger and more durable, with the extra strength and endurance being a result of what is needed to sustain the larger frame.
Feral is …well Feral. Being the only example of his subspecies, he appears to be like most Yautja in his body and physiology, but his head structure is greatly different due to his subspecies likely evolving isolated on a smaller area, likely an island similar to the Neca Scout Predator. The thinner but more predlocks may be adaptations that give him heightened senses compared to the normal predlocks. The face was likely an adaptation that arose to a unknown stimulus, but it gave more benefits for survival in those isolated conditions than the standard Yautja face. I think he is his own unique thing rather than a hybrid between Classics and Supers because of the thin but many predlocks. This is a trait that neither have.
