Predator HG runs waaaaaaay better on PS5

I don’t see how that is different from the reality were faced with 😅

Yep. Realized that right after I hit reply. 😑

At least with the AAA studio we’d get 60hz servers and optimized net code and… I’m going to stop there 😅

Me too! Although Alienware is trash when it comes to airflow. I wish I knew that before I bought it.

First: It makes no sense that PC players make fun of this topic!
But it may be the only way for them to feel great - by owning a PC instead of a PS4 / PS5. Ridiculous.

Second: It is a general major issue that nowadays console games are not correctly optimized for performance but rather for graphics quality.

Due to the Unreal Engine 4, Predator: Hunting Grounds is a rather well optimized game. I am sure that a PS4 Pro could run Predator: Hunting Grounds with 60 fps at 1920 x 1080 - with lower graphic settings. I cannot understand why PS4 versions of games do not offer the same options as PC versions. It is simply unfair for PS4 players that even settings like “motion blur” are not available. Currently, the PS5 is superior to most PCs but its games do not offer unlocked frame rate. The only real issue of the PS5 is its tiny harddisk.

It can do at least 1440p 60fps

I don’t know the exact resolution of battlefield V on the pro but it’s higher than PHG and has 64 players

With buildings being destroyed, dogfights in the air and all manner of transports

With the RTX 3070 priced at $500, you can build a monster PC that will by far outperform the new consoles for around $1,000. The price gap is getting narrower. Soon there will be no reason to buy a console other than just convenience.

Absolutely. I strongly recommended buying a PC with a suitable graphics cards instead of getting a console.

But don’t build a new PC right now. Next year’s graphics cards and CPUs will significantly outclass this console generation. Then, your new PC will have sufficient performance for this console generation.

My biggest issue with consoles is compabibility and flexibility.

Some examples:

  • The PC versions of the Dark Souls has literally quick saves. You can backup your savegames midgame with ease.
  • Can you stream a movie at a PS4/PS5 while waiting for a match as predator in the backgrounds?
  • What about different control schemes (keyboard/mouse, joystick) - just like YOU want it at PC?
  • Consoles nearly completely lack some genres like simulations and AO games.

The only advantange of consoles is that cheating is way more difficult. However, crossplay has reduced the relevance of this argument.

They already do, just gotta pay $1,500 or more. Also, you can overclock PC components to get an extra 10% to 15% performance. It’s a good thing that the new consoles are this good. This made the gpu companies price the new generation cards so low that they sold out before they hit the shelves. I mean an RTX 2080 TI is $1200, the new 3070 is just as fast and for only $500 is insane. I can’t wait to get one.

Really, wait if your current hardware is sufficient. If you are not a hardware fan, continuously upgrading is a waste of money. Who cares if you can run everything on ultra and only AAA games benefit from recent hardware.
However, most AAA games have become really dull over the years, just too simplified.
There are so many great indie games on PC nowadays.

Though, ported PS5 games might not run appropriately on older PC hardware. So, upgrading to RTX 3070 or better next year’s version is probably necessary.

People over-glorify the new consoles. Their performance is on par with a PC equipped with an RTX 2070 Super and a cheap CPU. Any PC with a high end CPU, fast RAM, and an RTX 2070 Super or above can outperform the new consoles. But most console players don’t understand this and they have it in their head that the new consoles are better than a decent gaming PC, which is completely false.

Sorry, I mean something different. A PC from 2016 can run games from the PS4 generation but will likely have trouble with the PS5 generation. So getting a new PC may be reasonable next year when PS5 generation games appear alot:
Many games are developed to run on the current console generation. The new console generation will result in a general increase in PC requirements and graphics quality until the next console generation. So, if your PC meets the current requirements, there is no need to build a new PC. So, if you have a RTX 2070, upgrading is not necessary with the exception of > 100 fps at 4K which is still rare and even not possible with the new cards in many cases. So, you still have to choose between fps and resolution.

I wouldn’t say afraid. It’s nice just sitting back with a controller for some chilled gaming. Both consoles and PCs have their place. James Cameron likes both but hates the fanboys on either side. Just play on whatever platform you want. Hopefully ilfonic will unlock the frame rate and make some optimisations for ps5. Should make the game run really nice.

James Cameron played NMS earlier and it felt like a brand new game. So it is possible to patch these games for ps5 and make huge improvements.

Remember when comparing hardware it’s not useful to say a ps5 is like a 2070 with a cheap cpu. It’s how all these things are optimised. With proper optimisation you can get a console that is slower on paper to actually equal a faster pc. Once the new gen consoles hit their stride and developers really make use of their abilities I think you might be surprised what they can accomplished. All for a pretty low price. I have spent far more on a single graphics card than my whole ps5.

Can everyone cool it with the acronyms!? I half got what this was! If it’s not PHG than every acronym wont make any sense to anyone here!

Those who do not understand are insignificant

Choke you bitch! or CYB!

Oh no, MassImpact124 has gone a little too far…
Didnt’ mean to mic drop it on all of you. (silence befalls the kingdom)

Personally, I would rather sit on a couch with a controller and relax, instead of sitting at a desk with a keyboard and mouse. I also don’t really care if the graphics aren’t quite as good on console. Hell, I still play some PS3 games and think even their graphics are fine.

some of us don’t ever…sit at a couch. So the experience is somewhat lacking.
