I’m baffled that people are still defending the predator’s weakness. Are these people just fireteam mains who don’t want the game to be balanced or something?
Whilst predator wins certainly happen they -always- require a misplay on the part of the fireteam. They always split off and let me ambush them or something like that, or try to fight me where I can just plasmacaster them to death.
A fireteam that stays together, and actually covers one another, and is vigilant about their surroundings isn’t something a predator can generally beat. And I don’t need to “get gud”, I main the predator, and I’ve played long enough I know how to use the predator’s tools and such to attempt to even the odds, and occasionally win against good teams if luck and positioning are on my side.
That doesn’t change the simple maths that -every single time- I come across a team that actually knows what it’s doing 8 or 9 out of 10 of those games are losses (and usually terrible ones where you get 1 kill, use all your healing trying in vain to sneak up on them or find some sort of hole in their defence, then die).
What about people playing this from Day 1?
Some people don’t have the 2xXP from reserving it and some people are STILL just buying the game.
Out of the box, the Predator comes off ass a “Class Canon” if you will!
The Steep learning curve will turn MOST players off!
Predator NEEDS a Health Boost badly or the Fireteams Weapons need Serious Nerfing.
The AI could use a Significant Buff as well!

You can’t balance for low ranks, it’ll throw everything off. Low ranks are just going to have to take their licks and get better. If you think the Predator needs a health buff, wait until you come across a decently skilled Beserker user. You’ll be right back here saying the Predator is OP.

No, I’m saying that I’m not an incompetent predator, and they are not incompetent fireteams. The win loss ratio should be closer to 50/50. It is not. On that note about the berserker tampering with HPs seems like a poor resolution to the issue. Scout may need more survivability but berserker and hunter don’t. The game needs mechanical overhauls, not quick and easy HP-modification bandaids.

I got ya. As for your ratio, what data do you have? We said the same thing after the trial weekend and their data showed closer to a 50/50 split. Iv also noticed a higher win ratio from Predator today. Both those I’m going against and myself. I know that’s anecdotal but interesting nonetheless.
I’m level 83, I have every piece of equipment unlocked for the Predator. The ONLY good thing he’s got for him is Berserker and Combistick. Jungle Hunter sucks, Hunter is the best of both worlds (with no health) and Scout is…don’t. Most of these people trying to say “just play better lol.” Are either only using full charge Plasma Castor and the Ranged damage ability with Berserker. Must be nice being able to tank shots and one shot huh? Don’t even leave the tree to take a skull, just shoot them while they’re down. Buff the Predator (and tweak the Berserker, no more rooms cleared with Combistick) and all the classes respectively. The Fireteam aren’t the Hunters. We are. This isn’t Fireteam: Hunting Grounds.
Is the data you’re looking at specific about what class of Pred is being used?
Its been long enough that more people are unlocking the Berserker…
Part of the problem is people are not being specific with feedback.
Saying buff the predator when maybe they mean buff jungle hunter 87 or buff the scout class etc etc.
Yea, ALL the matches Iv played as fire team today have seen the Berserker being used. And we’ve lost em all. Iv played a handful of Predator matches myself(Jungle Hunter) and won them all. So Iv yet to see the fire team win today through 10 or so matches.
I think its the health.
If you give scout the same health as the Hunter/Jungle Hunter, and split the difference between the Hunters health and the Berserkers health(adding that to the Hunters health), that would help a whole lot…
Also, when most people say “Buff the Predator” they typically mean increase pred weapon damage(because most of the preds weapons suck), and give it more health…
Personally I think the main problems with the Predator don’t actually stem from survivability, but from separating the group not being a thing and reinforcements.
My experience with reinforcement has been that if the enemy reinforces successfully I have already lost most of the time, but if a fireteam loses members and does not immediately reinforce they are going to die if they try to engage me unless they’re real good. Which makes nearly every non-rushed game eventually revolve around an extremely easy to pull off reinforcement method with no real counter. This system is just broken and needs removed or seriously adjusted. Some fixes I’ve seen discussed are making it so it only brings back 1 person. Or perhaps it requires a sustained minute or two long action that can actually be disrupted by the predator
As for the group thing. If the main issue is that fireteam members cannot be killed in a group, then the game needs to provide some pressure to separate them. Whether that’s done through how the objectives for the fireteam work or something the predator can do I honestly don’t know, but there has to be some way. If in a vacuum the predator vs 4 humans means the predator dies, they need to be separate at some point for the predator to actually ambush them.
As for Berserker, I’m running them at the moment and they are feeling better than Hunter by a long shot. It feels like I’m -dominating- the lesser players with him and a combistick but am still not quite on even footing with good fireteams with the Berserker imo.

Absolutely not. But what you are saying is the same thing that was said after the trial and their data didn’t reflect that.
In this case I believe they said win/loss was 50/50 roughly -overall-. I would agree - including matches against obvious new players. The problem with that data point is that Predator vs a new team is almost an immediate win for the Predator if they’re not new. And that’s fine, but factoring those matches into how the overall balance levels out leads to some erroneous conclusions like presuming a Predator can actually kill teams it cannot.

Fire Teams have too many resources. This gives them big heal and lots of Ammo, which is bad for Predator :(.
At NO point did I ever say that the Fire Team itself was OP or that the Predator was weak.
I’m not going to act like I am a master at this game - hell, I’m level 60 and enjoy playing both sides. But the two issues I CONSISTENTLY notice is -

The Fire Team can outheal any damage the Predator does that does not result in a quick kill. This essentially makes the Predator feel like he “wasted” his time AND precious health, both of which are valued critically by the those who have played and tested since Beta, as the Fire Team will almost NEVER run out of heals or ammunition if they have half a brain.

Anytime a Fire Team is “revived” the predator loses. I realize this isn’t universal - but here’s the issue… when the two teams enter the map we can assume they are roughly equal strength. This is the basis for any good competitive game, no? We could even argue that the FireTeam is perhaps a bit stronger than the Predator because they have more objectives, enemies, and resource draining activities than the Predator does. When the Fire Team revives their allies they, essentially, spend one or two minutes of travel and defense, while giving the Predator one additional opportunity to strike, to bring back up to 75% of their strength. That’s nutty. This also correlates with fact I provide above - not only does the Fire Team renew their offensive and defensive capabilities, but they ALSO recreate the items they had when the round started. So even more buffs for them :).
Neither of these things make the Predator underpowered - I NEVER said those words. They are unnecessary benefits for an already strong Side. If you want to say that is basically me calling the Predator underpowered when compared in a vacuum to the Strike Team, the Predator is then, but unlike others here I am NOT calling for a buff to the Predator. It is extremely unnecessary and would need to be accompanied by nerfs to certain -already strong- Predator playstyles.

The problems are not in the numbers each team can do. In fact Berserker might want a touch of a nerf before all is said and done (and Scout a significant buff).
The problems here are deeper overall structure stuff.
