Not quite… considering the ammount of ammo needed to take an AI down and the ridiculous number of AIs that spawn, they’re still not very reliable if you don’t carry ammo bags.
True, mas also not that hard to counter that. I’m not even close to be a good Pred and i know enough not to be close quarters with Dutch 87. If i see one, i just use ranged weapons.
I mean, me personally, I’ve never had an issue with AI and the SMG. Tends to kill them faster than the Hammerhead or the 1011, and I don’t have an ammo issue with it either. I typically only use it to take off masks or kill AI, its not very ergonomic vs. Pred at mid-close range compared to the 1011, at least for me. And yeah rushers are easily countered, its crazy that so many still continue to do it and think its a viable tactic against someone clearly more skilled than standing around being stupid.
Yh the only drawback to Dutch 87 is lower Pistol ammo. It’s not a big deal if you have a teammate using ammo bags though. Most of the time you just have to conserve your ammunition properly & you should be fine, assuming you don’t get a worst case scenario situation where you have to carry 3 vegetables against an army of AI & the Predator. In publics it can be a slight issue having lower Pistol ammo but in privates it’s not even noticeable if your team bring ammo.
If you’re using the SAWZ-50 though it’s really easy to kill AIs & conserve ammo. Heck you can do the same with Hammerhead too but it’s more effective with the SAWZ-50. Basically just snipe every AI or stab them. If it’s a heavy AI, stagger them with 1 sniper shot & then finish them with 1 stab. Try & save Pistol ammo for encounters with the Predator. Basically if the sniper doesn’t 1-tap an AI, it will stagger them, so finish them with a single stab. If you’ve got the Hammerhead you can do something similar, as you can just fire a couple rounds to stagger the AI & then finish them with the knife.
It’s not like you have to do it every time religiously or anything but it’s something you can get into the habit of when it comes to conserving ammo.
But yeah I usually just run either Isabelle, OWLF, Scout or Assault.
