Rework Chapter 1: Match Length / Rewards (WIP)

1. Match Length / Rewards -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

General

Match length needs to be significantly extended. As it stands right now it is roughly 5 min typically, and 15 min max (though it rarely ever gets that long). Ideally the matches would be uncapped, but last somewhere within the 30 min range naturally. Some ways we can extend match length are:

  • Larger maps.

  • Longer and drawn out fireteam objectives.

  • More stealth focused gameplay on both sides.

  • Combat balanced around second winding/downing the other team, rather than outright killing.

The Idea is to give predator time to properly hunt, and stalk its prey, and capitalize on the FT mistakes, if any are made. Also to give the FT time to push objectives stealthily

Major Gameplay changes

The point of these changes is to make for a far more hardcore experience. However in the case of the reinforcements, this change will significantly decrease the queue times for predator, as the FT members cycling in and out of games will remove the current hard requirement for a 4-1 population ratio

  • Reinforcements should be Removed entirely.

  • Predator should be able to destroy the extraction helicopter. However, Predator should not be warned that the extraction is happening. He should have to be wary of the helicopter as it passes over (Sound indicators could be present.)

    • To destroy the extraction helicopter, predator must use his plasma caster fully charged and hit the copter. However, destroying the helicopter with this, destroys the shoulder cannon as well. A second extraction chopper is sent but will take 10 minutes to reach the FT. So they must survive for 10 extra minutes.

    • Fireteam members that are already in the helicopter upon its destruction, will fall out of the helicopter suffering only minor fall damage

Damage dealt by both sides should be significant. TTK should be very quick, for both sides. And each FT member should be able to singlehandedly second wind predator on paper. However Pred’s stealth should make putting this to practice extremely difficult, As Predator can down them just as quick, if they are caught alone, and do it before they have time to react.

Rewards

Increased and more consistent rewards will encourage more players to play FT

  • Veritanium, and OWLF recordings should be retained upon death.

  • 5k Veritanium should be rewarded to each surviving FT member, should they survive the match.

  • 5-10k More Veritanium should be rewarded to each Surviving FT member, upon successful extraction of the body. The condition of the body should dictate the reward payout.

Private Matches should no longer reward players at all (or at least without a full party of 5). To discourage Solo Farming.

  • XP rewards can be kept

  • No veritanium should be rewarded.

  • Challenges should not be counted

  • OWLF recordings should not be kept.

A new mode is fine, it should not effect PM or regular Hunt mode.

Map size is fine. There are plenty of times the Pred can’t find the FT quickly. Its really only at spawn is the problem.

We don’t need longer matches. 15 minutes is plenty long enough, and uncapping it just leads to camping FT who never need to move, or mission ignoring FT because they can eventually kill the pred regardless of how much time it takes.

Stealth and stalking is good.

Whittling down is fine.

Removing reinforcements means you need to buff FT.

Leave the helicopter alone. Because a pred can just sit back, letting the AI damage the FT and just snipe the helicopter and then clean up the team.

The artificial extension of the game by waiting for the next extraction is just wasting everyone’s time.

It just makes the first helicopter a trap.

Don’t allow 4 people to all be able to 1v1 the pred. It just lets 2 pairs of players always win any pred fight.

OWLF should not be kept because its supposed to be a big reward.

Sure, more Vt is always fun.

You might discourage solo farming, but are encouraging public farming, which is far worse.

We’ve already seen the 10 minute stealth so and off’s they’re not fun for any one besides the FT still alive.

Don’t like this idea

Reinforcements need to add time to the clock or remove the time and delay or cancel the chopper altogether

Calling in reinforcements means they want to fight

Doesn’t make a lick of sense to reinforce then immediately run to exfil or to have the time run out

Yes it does. If you spend all match doing nothing then get reinforced and either lose to time or have to rush exfil because you wasted that time. No reason you shouldn’t be that low in time.

OBJ takes 3-5 minutes if you can’t do that in that time your fault. If you want to kill the Pred you can do it in 15 minutes.

If you want longer matches then we need longer missions not increased time.
