What is it like to feel noting at all? I think is difficult to understand for any person who can’t stop feeling, but maybe easier to explain for a person who can do both.

Well, it only takes 24 hours to completely put a memory in long term. Within about 4 I can recall anything important, at 12 I can begin to solidly recall, and at 24 I can near perfectly recall.

In that ~4 hour lag time I can just reread the chat logs. My active memory is unaffected, which means if I keep actively thinking about something I won’t forget it until I stop thinking about it.

Yeah, that’s the answer i dont want to hear, even though it true.

Well, the most easy explanation is kind of like comparing a mac to windows software on the same computer. It’s an entirely different operating system. I have the added benefit of having fully felt emotion at a previous time, albeit over a decade ago but I remember the physiological things and mental experience of it.

When I don’t operate on emotion, which is most all times, it’s like a weight is lifted from inside my chest and my thinking is significantly clearer, and much more long term & elaborate. I can plan extremely well like this.

Feeling, well, is quite frankly a bitch to explain. It’s like my mind is less organized and less structured for planning, more in the moment, and almost irresistibly urging me to impulsiveness. That’s what I remember about before. Now it’s a faint feeling in my chest, a slight hazing of my mind, a faint beckon to be slightly impulsive when I choose to let myself feel.

I generally only let myself feel something as a reward, having a positive experience with family members, or when I need to consider how my actions may affect those who are neurotypical.

So being emotionless would make a person more productive, but evolutionarily you couldn’t build a society and make a population prosper like that so although from an individual’s point of view emotions can be a weight, as society we do need them.

Generally yes, and especially for natural selection. In the wild, getting pissed off and killing something for attacking your family or having a positive emotion to bond with family that when combined with the logic that gives us the ability to think and plan out how to achieve those things is a recipe for success.

For being alone, lack of feeling is great, trying to do that with a group, not so much.

I still do have the ability and will to reproduce, just not with very deep if any emotional ties.

So while yeah you could build a more functional society based on only logic and it would probably be significantly more productive and efficient, getting there really wouldn’t be feasible.

It’s a movie where there is almost no racism, prejudice, war, viloamce, crime, murder or happiness, because people are closely monitored to take meds that suppress all amotion. And you though world peace was impossible. They also have pretty cool action scenes.

Hm. HMMM

People have found a way to achieve equilibrium. Not too different from Buddhist monks i guess

you must love my memes then.
