Ukraine is a puppet state , america is a puppet state and NATO as well as the powers that be have provoked this all .

The Pandora papers says it all.

Putin - prick
Zelensky- prick
Trump- prick

If you think Ukraine is and was butterflies and rainbows then you are an idiot . Its laundering billions.

The not another inch to the East was something just said orally and not a treaty.

And I believe it was said to the president of USSR not Russia. The USSR doesn’t exist anymore.

Ukraine had a pro Russian President but after the rioting they elected a pro Western President. That’s why Russia took Crimea.
Then their bid to join European Union and NATO years later is why Russia invaded, so he can replace Pro Western President with a Pro Russian President.

So the people actually want to be Pro West besides the small group of Pro Russians in Donbask region.

In retrospect, Putin probably should’ve just taken the Donbask region so he can have a land bridge to Crimea. And keep Ukraine tied up in a border dispute so they can never join NATO.

But I do agree Putin really had no choice. It was a national security risk.

It’s the same when the US freaked out during the Cuban missile crisis.

Who doesn’t want a buffer zone.

But at the end of the day, if you’re a sovereign country, shouldn’t you be able to choose what you want?

What was the treaty you’re talking about?

I can see you’re upset about US tax dollars being used to support the war in Ukraine.

But if you think about it, it’s actually cheaper for the US in the long run.

US and NATO aid to Ukraine greatly discourages China from even attempting to take Taiwan. Which will be even more costly because the US will have to actually fight in that war.

In this case, you’re using Ukraine as a proxy to fight Russia and there’s no US casualties.
At this point, Russia doesn’t look like they’ll be able to fight another conventional war in the future. The US and the world got to see Russia for the paper tiger that they are and they have lost influence on the global stage. They now have the role of little brother to China.

In the end, you think they should’ve stayed Pro Russia instead of attempting to join the EU and have their standard of living increase?

yes

i’ve a feeling that there will be a subtle breaking of the communist political geography much like the social changes seen when the berlin wall was seen destroyed.

It would seem inplausable to find russia or chinese hostility towards the rest of the world unless there was an ultimate compromise on their parts. Not likely imaginable but their fortitude of this particular unprovoked invasion only tells the world what their political privacy has their limitations and will break or become incredible vulnerable in the world view. Thus an impending deconstruction of the communist party. They might even unify.

It was a treaty between russia and nato if I’m not mistaken and was basically a "you can operate and do what you do but there is a boundary and as long as neither crosses then things should be ok, but zelenski didn’t honor the treaty which looked as if nato was pushing the boundary. I don’t support it and maybe i spoke out of aggrivation as far as saying maybe they need to be wiped out…ofcourse i don’t think innocent ppl should take the hit but at the same time i have yet to see any ukranians against it if anything i saw ppl holding him as a hero. Lastly if biden supports it then its most likely not in the US best interest.

Now before i go on with this next part ill say idk how the whole things work on that side of the world. Why doesnt the EU help ukraine instead of doing PR to try and gather the ppls(US) support aid in the fight? That’s a genuine question tho not trying to be a smart ass.

As far as china, something is fishy about that because of the recent chinese spy balloons and all that and the “leaders” doing nothing about it til ppl were like wtf. I know spying goes on between everyine but the fact of it being blatant and nothing being done til pressure was applied is straight up BS.

Like create a new Union? Or a new bloc?

I don’t see why China would want to. They can get whatever they want from Russia right now. They have all the leverage. All the raw materials they want. If anything they’d probably benefit from a Russian collapse. If Russia ends up getting divided in a civil war they would take back Manchuria and probably try and take Far East Russia. That would give them plenty of oil and raw goods. And access to the emerging arctic sea lanes.

Again, the not an inch to the East was just something said not a actual treaty. And it was said while the Warsaw Pact was still up.

Which can be interpreted as not moving into Germany because the wall came down a year prior.

If you can find an actual treaty please post link.

Like I said I understand why Russia had to do it. It was for national security, but I also can see why Ukraine would want to join, they’d have a higher standard of living and would no longer be under Russia’s thumb.

If you look at how the economy in Britain got worse after leaving EU you can easily see how joining the EU would’ve made Ukraine more prosperous.

Ill have to track it down when i get some time, but I can’t speak on the EU because im obviously not over there to know its pros and cons. I can respect your position tho whether or not i support giving aid to Ukraine. Also appreciate the way you making your points and challenging my stance with out pulling a symbiote or soft as jello so if im wrong I got no problem admitting it.

Stealing that

Go ahead no problem

They couldn’t shoot it down because of the debris it would create would be a hazard to civilians.

Imagine a relative getting hit in the head and dying from the debris. Would you say man that was irresponsible or would you say their death was for national security, it had to be done

The spy balloon didn’t get any more intel that a satellite could give. It wasn’t a threat.
They waited for it to get over shallow waters to shoot it down so they can recover all the hardware.

Good point, but to counter that is say that the military and intelligence agencies have a bottomless bank account so they have ways to intercept it before it even gets to a point where its a safety issue. Norad monitors air space constantly in partnership with Canada so if they weren’t competent enough to catch it then maybe thier in the wrong field.

I do find it sus that they always seem to drop the ball at critical points which always leads to legislation but never drop the ball where its in the peoples favor so looks almost calculated at times but that’s a can of worms to break that down

Why stop it? It’s not a threat. Can benefit military budgets and war mongers if they let it come in.
Anti-Chinese sentiment is growing in Congress by the day.

But is that good? We don’t need another war we just got out of a 20+ year war and the military budget is big enougj as it is and they don’t have to answer where its all going. I know they say the economy thrives in war time but we been starting fights and sticking our nose in other countries business and orchestrating regime changes that don’t benefit those countries. At some point these countries will be fed up and who knows maybe attack the US, i know that’s a jump but every war we been in has been on other countries soil but never ours so seems like it could be our turn especially with the infighting and slim to none trust in the government or more clearly the ppl who are running the government, not all but majority are corrupt and make us look like assgoles to the rest of the world.

That’s because US geography makes it practically impossible. We have the best military and strongest navy and have the Pacific Ocean and Atlantic Ocean separating us.

Any signs of aggression or mobilization will be spotted quickly.

The world in general, has improved greatly from the globolization that the US created post WW2.

In exchange for US security the US got to write global policy.

As Americans, we benefit greatly from US hegemony and a unipolar world.

Having said that, China is a threat to all that. We have to do our best to stymie their growth and their overall influence. And we’ve been doing a good job about that lately.

I would have agreed with this before 2020

Putin should eat a dick and every single Russian, who supports this war should go through the denazification process and pay reparations for as long as necessary. There was no security problem for Russia you jackasses. Putin is simply a old piece of crap who became delusional over two decades of being in charge of Russia.

Fuck authoritarian regimes.

I say either be a democracy or get fucked.
