Potatoes are like the chicken of vegetables. They’re good. They’re cheap and everywhere, but for the most part they have a bland taste on their own and just serve as a canvas for you to create a flavor using seasonings. Compared to other tubers and roots, potatoes are in the bottom of flavor. Try some cassava, malanga or taro and you’ll understand, because those are a lot more savory.

Now on the why do we call noob players potatoes, I believe it comes from the colloquial “couch potato”… Someone who is just there sitting down doing nothing other than staring at the TV screen
