the only prey review that matters! Tony pope's

Yeah, sure. Sure.

Don’t just stroll in and say it was great , someone is wrong and thats that.

If you don’t have the desire to defend this movie (it would take a lot of mental gymnastics) then simply don’t? Why comment at all if you are against opposing opinions and dont like others?

Just finished the movie. Fairly average and iffy CGI. Refreshing new setting though. Gave me the reverant vibes, if anyone remembers that movie.

Dutch was perfectly fine. Was kicked and punched around, lost a tooth maybe, broke the nose at best.
But was there running from an almost-nuclear explosion and was on the crater of it like it was nothing.

Harring was a slice in the chest from the wirstblades in the final fight, obviously superficial since he didn’t even reached to that after the fight. And was there smiling after the ship flew like it was nothing.

Royce was stomped yeah, like Naru, he got some kicks in the face, but was totally fine, not a scratch.

What I’m saying is,
you were right about Naru getting out the fight intact, but same goes for every other movie of the saga, beacuse that’s how things were/are for the protagonist.
If it’s a problem here, it’s a problem for the others too.

I’ll stop here.

I did find it sightly outlandish how outclassed an 8ft super strong alien was against a 5ft 90lb girl in close quarter combat. Like… What the fuck

I’m commenting to make a number.

I’m sorry if I’m not putting arguments, bless who will.

I think you’re spot on. The problem with Naru is the same as the others: plot armor. But there’s WAY more of it now

Her brother literally overshadowed her the entire film and taught her everything

He died because “he’s the bigger threat”

She had one action scene against men. Other than that she had an equal fight with another comanche. Her action skills are still way less than any action hero movie.

She literally fails at killing the Lion, and is shown having to practice to get better at the things she does.

I like the idea that it’s because they’re men rather than white men in 1700’s America.

Yes, that was a good dynamic. It showed why were prey. It shows the reason why we were worthy in the first place.

Besides this his first hunt by canon (has to be) so this dude is even less skilled than city hunter.

It’s almost Like he couldn’t see it

That’s fair though and one of my critisms.

Wtf? Those weren’t supposed to be impressive, just visually stimulation.

Over shadowed? It was naru who told him the best way to hunt the mountain lion , she was literally challenging most of the suggestions they made . Her brother later revealed it was actually her that hurt it bad and He died because it was convenient .

She was beating up her own tribesmen and she later killed numerous French men hand to hand

She was giving “the best hunters” advice , she was literally schooling them in medicine and her mother straight out says she was great at many things

Even her tribe was basically telling her to “get back in the kitchen” before they were killed . White or not white, there weren’t many guys in it that weren’t condescending. But then again the writing was that bad it was hard to like any characters

His first hunt? They said it was his first hunt to earth? Regardless , he walks into gunfire , he walks into bear traps , he sucked at hunting in general and considering he comes from a race of hunters ? He should have some basic common sense . As for not seeing the trap? The bear trap must have taken some of the magic flowers .you got me there

So take the animal hunting out , what does he actually do? He is barely in it up until almost an hour in. Apart from eye candy , what was actually enjoyable? The scenery?

There are even reviews dropping giving 10/10 that state “i gave it that high rating because of the low ratings” . That sums up this movie because even if something isn’t good , people can’t fathom that its legitimate criticism. There is even reviews saying its getting review bombed . All the high scored ones are looking more like the fake ones .

And he did it. Having knowledge is so easy and hardly a strong point of superiority.

I know strats used by siege pros yet I never reached Plat 2.

A. When it comes to healing, yes, the Healer knows how to heal more than the hunters.

B. She is trained. This isn’t magic knowledge.

A. But still failed to kill it. I could of done that. A trained rookie injuring a lion is a hard cry from SJW.

B. Naru literally did nothing but scream at the dude. Yes her brother was a bigger threat.

You mean the person trained to be a healer…

Is better at healing than the people trained to be hunters…

It’s almost Like she was trained to be better, you know, the exact opposite of a Mary Sue who are good with no training?

Your taking the piss here dude.

People who love the film vs the people who hate the film.

Well now I got a question for the people that loved it.

If we changed it from a pred to an entirely different alien menace but kept the story and plot the same… would it still be good?

Is it good because it can stand on its own merits or is it good because it’s tied to a franchise you’ve invested a lot of time in?

Most of them won’t answer you, only throw insults. But the reasonable ones will.

Yes because it was a good plot with tight action. It being Predator just makes it better because we haven’t had a good Pred movie since 2.

Valid viewpoint. My point wasn’t to say people can’t enjoy and like the film btw, just making sure they aren’t just praising it because it’s got the pred franchise tied to it.

If it wasn’t Pred I’d be mad that it wasn’t because it’d mean we’d still have to be waiting for a good movie since '91.

Insert that titanic gif “it’s been 73 years” or whatever the number is.

I’ll post a full review either tomorrow or the day after, just letting my thoughts settle & stew, but currently yeah whilst nowhere as good as 2 or even 1, it’s way better then anything we’ve had for nearly 30 years.
