‘Facts’? It’s from a fan-made short film. If every half-assed idea concocted by fever-brained fans is to be considered part of official Predator cannon we’re in trouble. Even some of the official comics stuff is ridiculous, unless you think Archie vs Predator is a worthwhile addition to the Pred universe.

ok, soo…if u say that is a fan made film…ok i know this…but in any case NECA add it as an action figure.
soo if NECA done this…illfonic made the decision too add him and the “alpha predator” (witch sucks cuz is not like a pred that we want)
i know u probably want wolf pred as me, city hunter and soo on…but this is a start…and im glad they are doing something like adding new preds.
and another thing…it may have a connection with the samurai sword
I just prefer my Preds looking like Preds, and not mangled into other garish genre looks just for the sake of selling toys to Samurai fans.
I think it devalues the Pred concept by having them play dress-up. I have no interest in ‘Centurion Pred’, ‘Steampunk Pred’ or whatever nonsense toy companies try and come up with in order to sell more figures.

i agree with u. but let’s see how the gameplay will be with this pred…maybe u will like it eventualy.
If people want to use this Pred then fine. However, I’ll likely be skipping this paid DLC.
If I wanted to play looking like a Samurai there are some really good dedicated Samurai-themed games already available I’d play. I bought this game to hunt as the Predator, looking like the Predator, not looking like a Predator cosplaying as a Samurai.

Totally agree with you, GreyBack. I will buy this DLC just to continue supporting illfonic, and also to maybe gain access to the katana for the other preds.

I think the Samurai DLC fits into Predator lore respectively because the Samurai follow the Bushido a code of honor when it comes to war and combat.
The Predator species also follows a code when it comes to Hunting
The Samurai in defeat will perform what is called “harakiri” where they kneel down and take a short kitana and stab themselves in the stomach and kill themselves.
The Predator in a failed hunt will self destruct

I think i will buy this DLC cuz i’m a big Predator fan and i love the Samurai culture when it comes to their code of honor in battle, and their weapons.

Thats not the Predator we are getting tho. We are getting the neca figured one with the full samurai outfit look at the road map
Oh absolutely there are similarities, in fact I think the creators may well have taken inspiration from the bushido in the making of the predator. But, from an in-lore perspective, that doesn’t mean that predators will model their already very effective equipment and combat style after what they consider an inferior race overall … I mean, not likely, especially given how proud they are about their shit and their purity. Now it might be kinda believable to me that isolated, maybe rogue yautjas took some armor or weapons as trophies and chose to use them in specific occasions. But to go ahead and craft a whole set from scratch inspired from human warriors? Naah
These kind of “incarnations” from the comic books and fan made material just scream “cheap” in my opinion. And not only because things like Big Reds biomask actually look cheap as hell (halloween costumes from my local chinese market would probably look more solid). This upcoming DLC has a nice design i think.
To me they feel “cheap” as in: cheap ways to bend and twist predator essential characteristics and elements to appeal to wider / more infantile audiences taking value away from, instead of expanding on, what is a very very cool concept, one we all love.
If I was 5 I would probably be like "YEEES! Samurai Predator! Now make me a Viking one! And a T-Rex-Shark-Yautja hybrid next!!
(And btw nothing against toy companies doin this to sell more, perfectly fine and to be fair I do like some exotic action figures.)
But now that kind of stuff just totally takes away the immersion for me. I just don’t see any reason why you would do that, especially in a game like this. It’ so cool, creepy, intimidating and fascinatings as it is. Just respect it and bring your cool looking but out of place designs to another franchise.

Yea i understand your point i hope the Predator franchise does not become something like Assassin’s Creed where Ubisoft capitalized on using their Assassin’s Creed lore and fit it in every major world event in history lol
Now that there will be a Samurai Predator, what stops them from now making a Egyptian Pred, Spartan Pred, Viking Pred, Medieval Pred etc.

Look I’m honestly game for anything as long as it looks cool and plays good also I think that while yes it looks a lot different from regular predator armor that’s the point if they came out with the preds from all the movies most of them would look very similar except for the masks and some slight armor variation which a lot of people wouldn’t pay for so what do they do? They make dlc with more crazy looking predators and make the more normal looking predators like the elder free just have to get to a certain level to unlock it’s a win win yall get the predators you want for free and the people that want more unique preds can buy them and if you dont like the pred dlc you dont have to buy it
I think that all makes sense to me

spartan predator actualy is in the lore he trained wolf and Dark to become elites and he has a mask like that

I agree that from a marketing point of view it’s probably a good choice. I also generally like the “the more people are happy, the better” kind of policy. However I’m not sure I share it when it risks ruining the identity of a production tho.
What can I say, I just hope they will stop doin these kind of stylistic choices or make them very rare after the upcoming 2 DLCs, and that not too many buddies will have bought em when we’ll play predator coop mode! :)
Well most of it us as fans rule out like in the newest movie there was supposed to be multiple “scientist” preds and we bitched a lot so they changed the entire movie story…another example is that story where the preds have a “kill gland” we all consider that non cannon but every other story and idea I’m willing to here and take consideration even if it wouldn’t work but big red we only got a glimpse at him and his hunting party members so it’s very cool they added him and I very much like the idea of a samurai pred in general pred revolve around samurai ways and stuff I mean if they fucc up they killed them selves same with samurai who fucc up and I think big red has always been a slight repaint badass version of the jungle hunter
in any case is a DLC content, if somebody will like the ideea to buy it…then is their on decision.
i sincerely like the concept, il probably buy but after i see something about it like a trailer or a yt review…for now is just on paper
