I like them both but I never got the hype for the first alien movie , for me aliens was the best movie of them all
Get James Cameron and John mctiernan to both work on a AVP movie and it would be epic

Ye I feel like in the first movie we could have seen a lot more actual xeno not just readings of it on scanners

Ye but in predator we saw from JHs point of view sometimes which gave a better perspective
For me , you cant have an AVP movie without colonial marines and fuck present day , go in to the future

They seem to always make these movies in present day , it limits them too much.
Probably to keep production costs down.

That is EXACTLY why they do it.
Predators was off-world sure, but it was still filmed in Hawaii and Texas. Not that you need to go into space but I say that because they went to the exact places other studios use to film exotic jungle environments. Just go to Hawaii. KNB FX was also cheaper for the production and reflective in the character design given how slack jawed the Predators are in that. Even going back to latex armor for the shoot. Granted it was on a budget of around 40 million and Predators aren’t cheap for film especially when you have 4 of them
The Predator even used Canadian artists and filmed in Canada specifically to keep costs down which is why it wasn’t a total loss on the studio. Same thing with AVP-R though the bleeding on that budget was less than ideal.
It’s why we couldn’t get the pirate Predator film (this was also before Pirates of the Caribbean) and why AVP couldn’t go to space. And yet the dumped millions into reshoots and the Alien prequels so who knows what was in the glue Fox was eating.

Look at James Cameron and aliens though, he was known for getting gold out of low budgets . Its part costs and part that the studios are bankrupt of good ideas .
They try and reboot a movie but really its just a soft remake and they throw nostalgia at you .
I’m on board with this. It’s probably a xenomorph scrotum that he turned into a change purse. Gotta put that loose change somewhere for those interstellar toll booths!
