What would you nerf in FT?

Yeah see this is the difficult thing about this game. Because its got crossplay, lets face it its gonna be hard to balance. Most PC players could handle working in a team but most of the casuals are from PS4 and such, both have no mics, and no skills with teamwork.

This is why I dont like tweaking the class system to only one class per game, or only these weapons with these classes, because truth be told I wouldnt even know where the hell to begin with that.

And yeah I think that seperate objectives for everyone is entirely out of the picture because of the amount of people that leave games

To be fair those YouTuber won’t exactly keep the clips of them loosing matches as predator so I wouldn’t go by everything they say.

They are obviously not going to show you all the games they play. Its about how they play. Instead of asking for more nerfs (every single patch keeps nerfing the FT) perhaps learning some tricks? I just watch a guy playing with just the disk against a team that even had a aimbot haker and still won.

Last game I’ve played with one of my friends and 2 random on PC vs a scout on PC. It did not even matter we could spot him. He was so fast, kept repositioning. 1 second he was hitting someone in melee and instantly leaping up on something dissapearing. It was a long good game. He got us all in the end. Point is, nerfing the fireteam anymore and you’re going to get a ton of loses for FT if the predator is decent.

i would nerf the parry. I know its a great tool but it has no sense, a knife vs a giant stick or a pair of blades should never win.

And how would you propose we nerf melee then for the predator? No parry and a predator wins by pushing 1 button 2-3 times?

It’s a controversial and sensitive topic for sure, and this is by far the most carefully thought through of them all and I don’t necessarily disagree with any of the suggestions.

I’ve been playing for almost a month now, so only have 1.06 and 1.08 versions for reference. What I’ve seen is a huge change from the usual Beserker combistick melee rush ending a game in 3mins to a lot more variety now when facing Predator players. I’ve seen an increase in Hunters and Scouts, and very different approaches to killing the team. No two games follow the same pattern, unlike how it felt in 1.06 where most games were the same Predator class doing the same attack strat and it was frustrating, boring and felt nothing like a Predator game should. Now, it feels way better. I feel the pressure when I hear it’s mandibles, I’m scanning treelines like some traumatized Vietnam vet (no disrespect intended, my grandpa was in the war) and it’s no longer about waiting until it slams, hold the trigger until empty while watching it slice towards me. Games feel like more thought is being applied to the engagements now.

I did think that the ability to face down a Predator should be progressive. Like, I shouldn’t come into my first encounter and be able to go toe to toe with ease. I should maybe have to go through quite a few melee battles with them, and that experience reflected in my chances of winning…but progression in that respect doesn’t get considered except for leveling up weapons and even then it isn’t more than just grinding XP with that weapon and anyone can achieve that no matter how sure their aim is.
Other points I’ve thought about are damage drop offs for the slams and explosions. The games move so fast so maybe I’ve not noticed, but if I’m on the edge of the slam blast radius I shouldn’t take as much damage as someone much closer? I can one shot head shot a PMC objective target with an assault rifle across the length of the trainyard, yet I need nearly a full clip to kill a soldier with ballistic helmet style armour at close range sometimes. It’s really inconsistent

Anyway, thanks for actually explaining everything carefully and thoroughly unlike the usual “Fireteam is OP, nerf them and no more bomb defuse” that don’t actually describe the why or how👍🏼 it’s these debates like this thread where the best ideas are shared, and are what will make this game and its community stronger all round.

I’m baffled how anyone could realistically, after a few matches, not see the benefits of team communication and always have a mic at the ready for all matches thereafter🙄 add to that the directional sound element being essential, anyone who wants to be serious about having a chance to win should be investing in a decent headset.

Oh yes I have only been playing since the game released. so i wasnt around for the beta week shit before release.

For the most part I actually really liked the way most of the game played in the first week. But it still had a lot of problems.

The painfull stealth, half of the weapons being useless, fireteam spotting abuse, PC fireteams absolutely destroying pred, pred berzerk rushing. It was painful.

Now much of what they have done has “Fixed” the issues to some extent. But I dont think it actually fixed the core issues, just fixed how hard someone exploiting said issues can punish the opposing force.

I wish progressive damage could work, but unfortunately I think in multiplayer games its just better to try and keep most of the balance down to skill and preventing exploits, rather than handing out increased damage. Its hard to do for sure, but if it could work I would be all for it.

Explosions and slams have much wider radiuses, I believe that was a change in 1.06 to make explosives more consistent. Slams have always been kinda jank and bs but they are currently the only tool pred has for building clearing. I think I took care of that issue quite well while simultaneously breathing life back into both the handheld and shoulder plasma cannons

lol no worries, thanks for listening and having a back and forth with me! its always good to have a civilised argument/discussion and explain things. I agree, debates such as these will strengthen the game significantly

Haha no kidding on the mics man, Its a must in a game like this, but when I play FT Im usually 9/10 times the only one with a mic. its painfull.

Edit

I would say you are right, the variety in predator playstyles is much better than it was. but I refuse to settle for “better” when the game has the potential to be absolute greatness.

But that being said, as I said, most of the exploits that were present when the game released, can still be abused to this day, just to a lesser extent. I still run into zerker combistick rushes all the time (Doesnt help that I can parry any melee other than the combistick pretty reliably) But I also see fireteams that wont let predator get within 200m of the obj without spotting him.

Had an amazing match last night where the Predator just dominated everything from the first contact. He caught us in the overgrowth along the pipeline on Backwater, would jump in and down one player quickly then jump out before we could spot him, pressure us more with some caster fire, and even though we knew what he was planning he just wore us down. Took us out one by one, clean and swift. It was a quick match, but it was well played and I loved every second of it. He used a strategy that worked well, he didn’t just rush us all and end it in one bout. He might have ended us quick, but he took his time to make sure he was efficient and effective. When playing with my regular teammates we are quite coordinated and hard to catch out, but this guy was a true Predator. These are the games I love best and remember.

Oh shit was he a jungle hunter 87?.. Because I did exactly that last night and now I cant help but wonder if I was that pred

His PSN must have been his real name, it was Spanish or Italian like Miguel or Fernando. We played a few Predators from those regions last night.

Edit: He was a jungle hunter, that I do remember.

oh no nevermind wasnt me, im on PC lol! Still would have been funny if It was me

The most unfortunate thing about the balance guide I made, is that so many people say the post sucks because of just a few things they dont like, and even though I literally say at the top “Consider the post as a whole”, they dont.

Worse yet is most of them cant give a reason as to why they dont like certain things, and when they do, and I explain the things I did to balance every thing (because for every change i made, I made a counter change to try and consider exploiting and stuff like that as well as balance). And when I explain that they just revert to “Oh well the post sucks”

lol for example

but then after I explained to him how the predator was really the one that the balances favor is being tipped towards

In a lot of cases this is the kind of arguing I face, which as you can see is just impossible to counter without making it personal just a bit by saying “make up your mind” lol

However I understand why this mentality exists. Its because after dutch came out the casuals flooded the servers. and boy oh boy do we have a LOT of casual players.

So both teams are flooded with really bad players, and as such we are seeing virtually no exploitation because casuals dont take the time to learn how to exploit besides things like roof slamming. This is why people cry out that the game is already balanced.

But as I said earlier, if you balance around the casuals, Eventually some group of players is gonna come along and fuck it up for the casuals. If you balance at the higher level, you can kind of benefit both casual and hardcore players without giving them an advantage above each other besides the skill gap.

At the moment I’ve got crossplay off because we kept getting matches against Zerker rushers on PC on the Backwater map, our least favourite map as it is and just decided to take a break until after the DLC. It didn’t change the damn Backwater map being where the majority of our matches ended up, but it calmed down the 3min combistick parades🤣

Backwater is probably my favorite map because it forces predator onto the roofs inside the swamp village, its an interesting change from trees and warehouses lol

There are always going to be people who let their passions override them. I will say that since the courier post the other evening regarding how toxicity is being monitored and will be handled appropriately I’ve seen a huge decrease in toxicity, and some of the usual suspects have disappeared completely.
Sometimes, people are commenting in between matches and tension is high already and it comes out sideways in the forum. I never take anything personally, after all it is just the internet 😏

Derailed is my favourite, mainly because it’s the map I use for farming VT solo and so I know it really well. If it hadn’t been for the non stop back to back matches in Backwater, night after night then I wouldn’t hate it so much. Not all of its missions are bad, but some are pure ammo drains and the way the map forces the AI to swarm us grinds my gears especially at the exfil when it’s bad enough knowing Predator is heading for us and it’s going to be a Showdown🤣

Oh yes, no doubt about that.

Im glad courier stepped in though. things have gotten better so fast its actually stunning

I cant argue with you there, the ammo changes are very annoying.

For real!😊
