Can’t speak for all, but in my country, HG is really expensive and the minimal wage isn’t very high for the average Joe, so most would rather buy games such as Doom Eternal or RE3 for the same price asked for HG.

I suffer the same fate as OP.
Most of the time I get 120ish ping.
In private match, if someone from US queues me, I get over 250 ping, cant even play it, lag is horrible.
But when the game connects me to EU server, my ping goes from 20 to 50ish.

Something must be done!

We need a server list for quickplay to ensure we don’t get put in servers that cause us to lag horribly
