“Apex” is literally just MK’s design of the Jungle Hunter (No idea why you are referring to him as a different character either), poorly recreated with an ugly mask and horrendous face anatomy, but still meant to be Jungle Hunter, Dark on the other hands is way different, as his design takes hints from Wolf’s and Scar’s
Because oh no there’s like 5 different Jungle Hunter style Predators. Dark is also very much a copy and paste JH like Scar if you wanna talk about Classic Mask designs and characterization.
The reason why I refer to him as Apex is because
- Referring to him as Predator, The Predator, or MKX Predator is very dull and boring.
- In his tower story ending he becomes The “Apex” Predator
I do realize he is just another JH87 redesign that Netherrealm made, but he does look distinct enough.
Bruh, no he isn’t, Dark is very fucking different from JH, he is way closer to being a copy of Scar than of JH lol
Masks are different, while JH is very circular in it’s corners and pretty smooth, Dark’s is very sharp and rough in texture, with the lower part of the cheeks having layers
Armor style is completely different, Dark uses the more gladiator like armor from the Isolated Clan from the AvP movies, while JH uses the classic mostly smooth armor, Dark also uses a vastly different crotch armor piece and his legs are asymmetrical
Their faces are COMPLETELY different, Dark has a full row of teeth, his mandibles are completely different, his brows are different, the proportions of his face are different and he lacks almost all of the black spots JH has.

it’s just Jungle Hunter but ugly, that’s literally it, he isn’t a different Predator, he was never meant to be a different Predator, he is meant to be JH, that’s why he comes with a Dutch skin for Johnny and a Dillon skin for Jax that even features my man Carl Weathers

I have no clue why anyone would want the MKX Predator in this game when it’s just a really badly modelled JH. For all of the problems JH has in this game, namely being too pudgy and having a prolonged head, at least he doesn’t look like he was made in a weekend on MMD.

I don’t like any of the AvP Predators, but all their designs are distinct and easy to tell apart, even while ignoring their helmets, lol

Im pretty sure if Illfonic were to bring Apex into PHG he would look way different then how he looked in MKX. Because Illfonic likes to put their “unique spin” on every Predator design.
Now I 100% don’t think we’ll get Apex any time soon (or ever)

I still think Apex is a separate character, just like the Crucified Predator from Predators.

I understand you don’t like my headcanon about how Apex isn’t JH87. I understand that he’s a redesign on JH87 meant to be him in the MK universe.
But when I look at his
- Body proportions
- Armor
- Equipment
- His skin
- His face
- Listen to how he sounds
I just can’t see him and JH87 being the same character.

I believe we’ve derailed This thread long enough, but if you wish to discuss this more we should make a new thread.
As far as Apex is concerned he is meant to be a Jungle Hunter style character but the game was never clear on which Predator this was. All guest appearances have indeed been the character they’re representing but a lot of Predators look like Jungle Hunter and haven’t been him and the smaller details have him looking closer to the 2010 classic. It’s basically the difference between a sand and storm trooper. You wouldn’t notice some details if you aren’t looking for it.
In short the game was never clear on what Predator this was just that it was a Predator.
The Predator is not here to rule us. He does not wish to destroy the realms. He and others of his alien race merely fight–and kill–for sport and honor. There is much kombat in Earthrealm. Shao Kahn and then Shinnok thought themselves konquerers. They were defeated. The Predator will not be. The humans, Outworlders and Netherrealm demons will fall to his superior weapons, tactics, and strength. Their skins will make fine trophies.
The game does not refer to the original film nor does it use “Jungle Hunter” (for marketing this is what Fox uses). It’s just a Predator made for its appearance in MKX and isn’t meant to be anyone specific.
Spin-off media also does use the Jungle Hunter design be it Archie to Ghost Recon. It’s not meant to be Jungle Hunter it’s just for some reason what people use. I don’t know if it’s a contract thing or what but that’s what’s usually in usage.
