A couple of changes to mechanics I'd like to see

So, there’s a lot of stuff in this game I like, and some that I don’t like. So, I wanted to put a small list together to change certain parts of the game to improve those areas!

  1. Long claims and Stealth kills
    AFAIK Long claims and stealth kills give you nothing but bragging rights. You don’t get any extra exp or VT, but you give the FT member a sick af kill animation.

Personally, I’d like two changes here:

An exp boost, like 500 or 1k bonus exp per LK or SK, and a VT boost, 250 or 500 per LK and SK.

This would hopefully incentivise more Predators to perform long claims and stealth kills and push them away from quick claims 2 mins into the match.

  1. Parrying.

In before “Aw shit, here we go again” meme drop, ha!

Parrying is a big point of contention, and it’s like marmite. You love it or you hate it…sometimes. It stops Preds from being able to melee rush, but it also allows FT members to sometimes 1v1 preds with little consequence.

Couple of things I’d do to balance this out a bit more:

Make the heavy attack a non-parrying attack. It’s parry window is super long and it’s very low effort to pull off a parry with this. You literally just mash heavy melee and you basically parry every attack.

Give parrying a cooldown. What I mean by this is make it so when you parry an attack, an organge bar fills the stamina bar and empties out after 1-2 seconds. Whilst the orange is still visible, you are unable to parry any attacks, or perform any melee attacks, until the cooldown has ended. Once it has, you can perform another parry and melee as normal. If you’re with teammates, you’ll only need the one or two parries to make a pred lose all their health, so I think this would be fair, plus it would stop the 1v1 melee wreck fest preds sometimes go against.

  1. Reinforcements
    “Ah shit, here we go again…again”

Personally, I love reinforcements. Chance for more kills? Sign me up! Got killed 2 mins into the match cos the 3 man scout squad left your support ass behind? Back into the fight!

However, the reinforcement is a little…well wild. You just kinda zoop back by the radio and bing bong here I am.

A change I would like is one I’ve seen suggested around this forum a bit. Make the new reinforcements drop in via chopper at a random spawn point, rather than phasing in by the radio.

This stops 2 things. 1) Preds using traps to instantly kill fireteam members who have just spawned back in and 2) It makes it easier for the Pred to go against the last FT member, who just clutched their team back.

It’s definitely an iffy thing to try and balance, and I am fine with the teleportation tech being used to get them to the radio instantly, however if there was a change, I would like it to be this.

And that’s about it! Anyone agree, disagree? I’d like to see some discussion on what people think of these ideas and how they’d affect games going forward if they were implemented.

I agree with you on them needing to redesing the XP bonuses… cause you generall get XP for killing them… not from actually claiming them… So long claim is pretty much useless as you mentioned…

Ah yes parry the tricky trickster of the game… uhm… i guess that can work very well what you suggested … like blue bar would be able to parry an attack or attacks… for example… it would be nice if you could block max 2 or 3 times before you run out of stamina and then it fills up with orange bar that lets you do your usual thing without parrying…

Reinforcement wise… bleh idk where to even begin… basically the whole BOP here i am is kinda unpleasent… and boring… It would be cool if there is like a heli that drops them in but oh well people are gonna be crying about frames… sure frames… For me reinforcements can go either bad or either good… no in between… by that i mean i can get a decent tree spot where i can just layout my decoys and be on a tree and charge my plasma… while having pigs in my eye sight… OR IT CAN Go horribly wrong and i cant do jack shit with predator cause as i previously said and i will continue saying it… HE IS LIMITED… he needs more mechanics in his caliber… by that i mean actually be able to climb a short wall or fence… and actually slow climb on a tree instead of instantly going on a branch… also dismounting needs rework too…

And my final saying in this is… He still lacks overall perk and hp buffs… but not the type of buffs that would ruin the game… rather a buff where it takes 2 or 3 guys to actually melt the predator HP with a knife or even a full squad… AND i mean to the half not until second wind lmao… And also they godamn semi automatic sniper rifle needs a nerf… jesus christ people are back to knifing and exploiting the cloak being seen from miles away…

Yeah, parrying is really wild in all situations. I think what doesn’t help is that if a FT member parries, they lose a good chunk of stamina, but they start regenerating it immediately, which makes it seem like they can parry for ages! If they made he stamina recovery on a parry much more delayed, that would work too.

Reinforcements are fo sho a wild card, you either get em good or you’re 500m away from the beacon and get nothing done.

In regards to him being limited and him being very squishy to most FT’s, yeah I’m in agreement. I don’t think he’s so limited he’s unfun, but it would be nice to have more. And yeah, PC FT’s with snipers and knife rushing is absolutely wild. I play with crossplay off so I’ve never had that kind of wildness, but there are definitely some balls of steel bastards on PS4 every now and again, hah!

Like the perks i have right now are probably the best you can get lmao to make the pred have an upper hand againts 1v1 or 2v1 but in generally if the team is cordinated they just speedrun trough objectives and as much as you try you can down like one or two but you get left with small chunk of health that you become anxious af and just lose your mind and chase pigs and by the time u kill the pig and eat it they are all up and miles away getting ready to spawn in the choppa lmao… Now this can be pretty much full PS players or in general avg PC team can take you down quickly… Im in general avoiding PC players cause damn son… u get no fun at all xD…

Ok recapp… basically the perks need hella buffs… by hella i mean you basically dont get much of boost anyways… for dmg wise its like 6hp dmg extra… and for not taking dmg its also smth like that…

By limited i mean idk… in movies you pretty much dont see predator at all like bruh…

The way i see how it is right now

Its like 45/55… in general the best thing would be to have kind of 55/45 for predator… or 60/50 but in a way its like 50/50…

In terms of perks, yeah there’s a good few which don’t do enough or aren’t good enough, but there’s for sure some criminal underrated ones in there, observant and dithered lens are so damn good and fun to use I swear!

Yeah, FT objectives can get rushed through insanely quick, and if you can’t apply enough pressure or get wittled down very quickly it can be hard to make a good enough comeback before they call the chopper. But at the same time, sometimes the matches feel like they go on for just long enough for both sides. Honestly it’s super wild with how different match lengths can be.

Yeah, if I could do predcour on the ground and do effortless leaps and jumps over small walls without worrying about magnetising to the closest tree, that would be pretty slick!

I agree long claims, short claims, “living claims vs. dead claims” need varying experience points and VT values. With stealth kill being the highest.
It would really change the dynamics of the game. So to change the play styles of almost EVERYONE (and would probably cut down on those zerker rushes people hate without having to nerf the combizerk).

Parry - I’ve said a few times…this is a whole game overhaul though, a dive/roll mechanic instead would be more believable and more useful. Costs stamina (it’s like a fireteam version of leap), you can use it at anytime at the cost of stamina. And is far more believable and natural if a fish faced apex predator is charging you with sharp objects to dive/roll out of the way instead of pulling out a knife and screaming “En Garde!”

Reinforcements - again this is changing everything, but yeah a random spot chopper drop, (to include the last FT member if you drop him after he triggers it, basically Round 2), but your load out and class build is random, for fun.

Just my thoughts

Like dont get me wrong the current balance they made is generally good for bigger maps than this and for more objectives that are longer and harder… cause like damn i like recently realised how hard i try to win and have no fun… i rarley do long claims cause im scared to get fking knifed man xD… like literally shittin my self…

If they actually fix the perks and game breaking bugs… and make current and future maps bigger or add more objectives that are harder… the game is fine literally… But content wise it would not be fun to play yet… if they add more like mechanics in game, more visions n shit… or ability like idk lets say to hang from the branch or from the wall or fence xD… generally speaking just those type of stuff would already make me happy… and probably more people…

Btw man… if u played evolve… i like how they did it in game… they basically cut off portion of your HP cause u were hurt before and killed… so in general it would make sense u would be hurt lol… in general in evolve it kept ammo and stuff except the HP had difference… In general this would balance the game a shit ton lol… and put in fear to Fireteam… rather them being like Lmao fok it bruv im going to knife this pred… i have two lifes

Honestly I’m as filthy casual as they come. This is my first adventure with an asymmetrical shooter. But yeah if we’re talking balance, the Predator just lost time killing 3 FT members and they don’t lose anything? Especially as pred your against the clock to begin with? Not cool…

Actually they are againts the clock but in general most people already memorised most puzzles and objectives that they can do them in less than 8 min… xD and that right there is an issue… cause the match lasts 15 min but in reality it lasts max 10 on avg 8 min… you in general lose 3 to 4 min of your time finding them and waiting for them to fire or ai to fire…

If they made an actual objective time to last actually 15 min even with speedrunning it… or not able to speedrun it… it would be great… you could play much more calm lol…

Are you really sure on that claim xp thing? As far as i know you get double the extra xp for long claims.

I don’t believe you do, you’ll just get the amount of exp the FT member is “worth” no matter what claim you do, which makes it better to do quick claims over long claims unless you want bragging rights.

I like everything but the parrying changes, i think if you’re skilled enough you should be able to 1v1 a predator. Parrying the Elder Sword and the Combistick is virtually impossible, and their attacks do so much damage.

Combistick is hands down the easiest thing to parry in the game. It has the slowest swing speed and to make things easier you really only need to ensure you parry the 3rd hit if you want to 1v1 the predator.

As for OP I feel like making a long claim prevent reinforcing would encourage people to atleast go for it at the bare minimum. Albeit setting up long claims is difficult and a good team isnt going to split to begin with.
