A Different Approach

I’ve been seeing a lot of…well strife and discord in the fourms here. Some of it’s justified, to an extent, but some of it isn’t, namely attacking the devs.

This my opinion with this statement, but everyone should calm the hell down. Here’s a few reasons why:

  • The Devs are working amid a pandemic. Getting consistent updates amid such circumstances are very arduous, predominantly because much of the staff is forced to work from home, thus slowing the progress down further. This isn’t even accounting for the fact their publisher, Sony, is usually the one to allow patches through, and they’ve currently been helping Naughty Dog defend the dead-on-arrival failure that is The Last of Us II. So…that’s fun. It may take a while before we see major changes with such stuff going on.

  • Illfonic isn’t a AAA studio. Someone’s said this in another post, but here it is again.

  • What does attacking them and each other get? We all want this game to work and succeed because it’s something the Predator franchise direly needs, considering there hasn’t been a decent Predator game for at least a decade. But we can’t get there if we spend most of our time tearing each other down and establishing an “us vs them” mentality, such as Fireteam members complaining the Predator is OP and should’ve been happy with the 1.05 patch and vice versa with Pred players complaining about the caster’s nerf. At the end of the day, if one side drives the other away, the game dies. So, instead of harshly criticizing ideas, we could offer constructive alternatives instead. Help one another improve instead of tearing one another down.

  • Every game, no matter what, has problem players. Those who use exploits, scripts or hacks to gain an unfair advantage or those who pick the easiest tactic imaginable and exploit it endlessly. And, like always, these players cycle out: cheaters get banned enough times to deter them from trying again and spammers either grow bored with always winning and leave for “greener pastures” or get bodied so many times they’re forced to change or outright quit playing from pure malice. Point is, these players never last. And they know that.

I’m not here to openly defend the devs; they could have handled this situation far better, yes, but we should be a supportive, helpful community, not one who turn on the devs the moment voices go unanswered. Because then we’re no better than other communities out there. Apologies if this isn’t perfectly concise, but here are my thoughts on the matter. I hope this all makes sense.
