A question about canonicity

So in the ol’ Playstation article, it was pretty much said that P:HG was Canon, and the stuff in it would be too.

Note that it pretty much said everything. I just wanted to ask these small questions.

Does this mean Clash is Canon?

Does this mean Alpha, Dante, or other characters who aren’t Default Characters Canon?

Dante could possibly be a part of Dutch’s new squad.

Do you mean like predators fighting predators?

I would imagine only story or characters would be canon, not game modes.

Characters, missions, and locations, as well as weapons and gear are canonical.

This includes cosmetics so while a specific Predator might not be canonical Predators can indeed be pink.

Layouts of squads, loadouts, who lives, who dies, the outcome of missions, all that is decided by the player and thus non canon.

Game modes are not canonical. Hunt has a loose story structure so those missions occurred but clash is just a game mode as well as whatever the player does for custom games. Taking out a pmc to send a message might be canonical but big head mode is not.

everything is canon until a movie, comic or other official says otherwise

Remember when A:CM tried to use canonicity as a marketing strategy?

The difference between Aliens: Colonial Marines and Predator: Hunting Grounds is that one doesn’t go against established lore just to make shit happen like Hicks surviving or Xenomorphs surviving Hadley Hope explosion. The Weyland Yutani Report regards tech from the game canon while never acknowledging the story.

Predator:HG brings back Dutch while expanding upon what he’s done since 1987 without going against established lore like The Predator did, and in a way fixes it.

One of these is not like the other.

Like supersoldier immortal dutch?

like 5% chance any of this is ever referenced again imo. These are film-driven franchises.
Licensing and film departments are two seperate entities, but the film department ultimately calls the shots. The Predator is more canon than this game.
not that fox cares either way though.

Fox doesn’t keep track of continuity. They have a lore group (or person) and even they managed to fuck up because things are ultimately separated by franchise. Not that anyone actually writing this stuff cared or knew.

But things like Dutch are canonical. If he ever showed up on film with a different explanation we’d use that but until then HG had the final say on where he’s been.

Eh, Pred Med-Kitted Dutch is a little new but it doesn’t contradict anything at all.

If Scarface makes it in, it just makes stuff like Hunter Borgia even more consistent with Pred Blood happenings in Comics.

Makes thread kind of redundant.

cold take but concrete jungle’s story was horrid weird outsourced fanfiction

Hunter Borgia part? I can respect that since it destroyed his sane character who was chadly.

Everything else was based tho.

Concrete Jungle is more a product of its time more than anything. Kind of like cyborg arm Dutch. Why that wasn’t a Dutch variant though I have no idea. I’d have bought it.

It’s technically not Dutch, just a cyborg/robot who as a added Arm, but I def see what you mean lmao.

No.

Certain things like gameplay aren’t inherently canon.

Unless you want to argue for parries and Predator not being able to one shot you with anything.

Yes

Though Alpha is dead
