So Crossplay off literally allows you to play only with people who bought the game in the same store. So Epic users will not be able to play with Steam users and vice-versa.
People on Steam are already complaining about console player potatoes and turning crossplay off. This hurts the Epic users and makes for longer queue times on both frontends.
@Courier @OldKingHamlet can you guys consider reworking crossplay so you can turn it off based on platform (PC vs Console) instead of per store?

So far Steam players on average play better than Epic ones. Like, you know they got the game a few days ago and they are already playing better than most PC randoms.
After last patch anyone playing with randoms will get their shit kicked.

Pred has the upper hand now (not a bad thing).
If you get your ass kicked as Pred right now… you are clearly doing something very wrong, cause even for a full PC good team is though now.
I think it still has a positive side, because that way, the PC Veterans can’t scare away young Steam Preds that have to run around without most perks or weapons, and let them level up among themselves.
Imagine being a Pred on Steam who got the game today and gets melted in seconds by Veteran PC Fireteams.
But at least in about a Month or so, when everybody on Steam is on level 150, they can clearly rework the Crossplay to make it Console vs. PC instead of Epic vs Steam vs Console.
Honestly, we had a hard time yesterday chasing down preds. It only takes one of us making a mistake to turn the tables. It doesn’t feel easy anymore. And with a duo you have to play so sweaty. With 3 we managed to ease out, but again, not easy by any means. If pred is retard, well… there’s no fix to that. But in no way are we melting preds anymore if they take caution and play smart,
I agree, but how are people that are only able to play for a couple of days supposed to catch up with the experience of people that are able to play for a year now?
I dunno man…but I already saw some pred players doing exceptionally well… on steam… maybe they have watched videos? or they are just very good gamers and can learn quickly.
I see it from the perspective as someone who didn’t play any PC games between 2013 and 2019, have bad aim and everything. I’m only good at this game because I’m a hardcore addict and mostly because I got 1 year of experience now.
We clearly need as much new PC players as possible.
And if you already ran into good players, then it’s very promising.
But even those still need to learn if they want to become superb, it is impossible to learn everything in just a week, especially as Pred.
If we fix this Crossplay Issue now, people like you and me will just scare away most of the new Steam players, while only the hardcore gamers will survive.
Like it is already for those playing via Epic, a lot of new players get totally frustrated and only come back when there’s a new Patch.
A lot of new players will play Pred, meet veterans, get melted and think “Fuck this game, this is stupid! I’m going to play XYZ again.”
We need to keep in mind that not every Steam player is automatically better than those on Epic.
I’ve heard this a few times now and cannot understand why people think that way, it’s just another store, not another system they play on.
I have my Steam account for over a decade now, that doesn’t necessarily mean that I’m good at anything.
Yeah, i think you’re right. I tried finding a match with Crossplay turned off these last couple of days but i stopped after 15mins or queuing for FT. So, if you got the Epic Store version, you’ll still be stuck with carrying the headless chickens that are PS4 players.
