About Macros (again)

Me and some other friends have been documenting bugs on this game for a while. Our main focus is to be able to replicate them so we can eventually share it with the dev team for fixing. I, as an avid troubleshooter, have focussed on finding workarounds to either avoid them or correct them.

One of those bugs I consider game breaking and very annoying to deal with; the no fire bug.

The bug is triggered by using the quick melee and weapon switch buttons either at the same time or very fast. You end up in a state where you can’t shoot or knife. To get out of the bug you need to change your weapon using the weapon wheel.

The solution to the bug is too slow for me, inconvenient, and the bug happens so often that I needed another solution.

Enter the Macro Captain.

Now I know how y’all feel about macros when they give an “unfair” advantage.

But I’m curious what are your thoughts when they are used for bug corrections.

My workaround involved introducing an actual time delay (200ms) between when the key is pressed and when the command is actually sent to the game. It really sucks because now you have to deal with a “laggy” weapon switch, but at least you are no longer left with the inability to shoot or defend yourself after a melee encounter.

Do you still think (in such cases) is cheating? Do you think it provides an “unfair advantage”? Do you think bugs are there to either be dealt with or abused and is up to the devs to fix them?

In this case no!!

But it seems that you just being to fast for the game to keep up so. Idk! It just proves this game was not ment for the pc since it can’t keep up with fast reactions like that!

So if you are using a macro to workaround the poor game go ahead! Tbh use macros as much as you want cause who cares now lol!!

Yup, that happens to me every 5th game or so. Well, If you are forced to use macro in order to correct a game bug - no issues with that I think. Especially if the macro is not speeding things up for you, but slowing them down

In order to fix a bug or an issue so that you can play normally then no however if there’s anything I’ve learned on these forums is that if the game is fucked by game breaking bugs then git gud and don’t complain.

for reference, here’s a video of the bug in action. You can see the mouse input and how nothing happens

I’ve read some console players complain about this bug as well. It used to be that you couldn’t melee, but after the last two patches you can’t shoot either. is really annoying.

That shit happens to me often. Yes, I am a fast clicker but this game is broken tbh.

I mean, yeah, but if we can find workarounds for bugs, I’m down for it, whatever it takes. I work professionally with Windows support. I have to come with workarounds on a daily basis to address issues that affect other employees in my job. So, for me this is my bread and butter.

Yeah, it happens to me sometimes! It mainly happens to me when I use that parry button R3 on controller idk what it would be in the pc!

But I will use it parry the pred and pop off a few from my pistol and parry again and repeat but if the pred is attacking with a fast weapon like wb, elder sword or sickle the bug happens after the first initial parry pop of a few round

that’s exactly what happens in PC. The equivalent on PC is the Middle Mouse Button or the V key, unless you remap them

Middle mouse button? That’s the wheel?

And yeah this game is so poorly optimized to run on both platforms that the game can barely run on its basic mechanics lol

Is this the same bug that stops you from sprinting?

It could be linked who knows! Lol for all we know all the bugs are linked together lol

I haven’t experience that on FT, but on Pred the no sprint bug has something to do with quick scope shots because it happens a lot to me with the plasma and bow. Solution is to aim for a second and shoot the plasma. You also hear the vision switch sound when you get the no sprint bug and try to do anything.

Yeah every once in a while I get a bug where I can’t sprint or shoot as FT and it’s super frustrating because it seems to happen when pred self destructs and I can’t get out in time.

I have never experienced not being able to sprint with FT, but I use sprint toggle keybind, so, it could be that the game just can’t handle too many inputs at the same time
