I think a really good thing to compare this to is Speedruns and the Speedrunnung Community.
Macros would be considered a tool to assist you in that, but in that community, much like actual gaming, is considered cheating (in Non Tool Assisted Speedruns, or TAS’s) because you’re using a program to play for you just because you want to exploit a gameplay mechanic to the while true yet inhuman limits. Inhuman, as in it would be impossible to achieve without that Macro. Just because you can achieve that limit, doesn’t mean you should be doing so with no effort. That’s pretty much aim botting for Headshots in a COD game because you can aim for the head anyway right? So what’s wrong with doing that automatically with the help of a computer program that does the work for me headass.
Now, there’s obvious counterpoints to this, like, what if you have a condition that restricts your ability to press fast or something? What if you’re blind? There’s numerous stories of people adapting to play rather difficult games made even more so with difficulties of their own and becoming rather proficient in them through their willingness to work around it.
