ACIG grenades should disable cloak for a limited amount of time. They way it works is pointless. It’s only a small field or vicinity and it only works if they are within the field. The reason I say it’s pointless is because they can just as easily super jump away from the area restoring their cloak. The anti cloaking grenade effects should hit him if he gets close as it already does but with an added temporary cloak disable. Like 10 sec at least. You are only given 2 to start off with and they really suck the way the go off.
@OldKingHamlet @Courier
ACIG grenades.
I mean… Predator is easy to spot without them so…
I couldn’t use my cloak after leaving the field for a while.
I can’t test because I don’t have gear points for them. I got questions.
I believe they are impact activated and leave a field for a period, if his is true, can you use them to deny specific trees or roofs?
I could. Cloak worked immediately after I left the anti cloak field. The bubble is tiny and they already nerfed the shit out of spotting it only works for like 2-3 seconds
You only get 2 lol. That ain’t shit.
I’d say the gas cloud should last a much longer duration. Like say 60 seconds. I dont know how long it lasts now, ill double check, but the way i saw it, it should last a good long time-id say 3x as long as it is now. Because if it is electromagnetic then we aren’t looking at smoke dispensation we are looking at battery life. the smoke is just an effect which IMHO should not be there. If it is some sort of eletromagnetic, it should just be the sparks. which is cool IMHO.
It works for a few seconds (I’d say about 10) after they have been hit with one.
and let me add, that eletromags would have a better effect if it would distort the light around it like the bear trap does. Interestingly enough it is what the cloak does but it is inverting the process so in effect we see the predator without cloak!
I wanna see preds with water balloons. You know, for game balance and shit. Take that mud off from ft
There is another plus to it. It doesnt just disable cloak. It makes the cloak make the same noise as when pred falls in water, meaning you can hear his ass pretty much perfectly while he is suffering from the effects.
I disagree. Its area denial. Its not meant to follow pred around. Throw them strategically and you can make it very hard for pred to engage.
It works for 10 seconds after being hit by one. It does not stop affecting the pred once he leaves the field until the timer is up.
Oh gawd! yeah i know. it should last at least 45-60 seconds IMHO. Otherwise its the same as being close to a body of water which is rare. But for the sake of balance, i think it has its fair share of useful moments. I mean it cant be leaned on as a failsafe right?
Gotta disagree with the 45-60 seconds. Match time base is 15 minutes. A quick mission for Fireteam is done in under 5 minutes. Making the Pred lose visual concealment is already powerful. Ttk on a Pred from a full FT concentrating fire isn’t very long. It’s good as is.
I will say I despise the gear system being measured by weight when it’s very obvious point cost is assigned by perceived value not weight. This should be corrected. Both the Fireteam and Predator classes should have a total weight capacity. Gear and weapons should each have a weight cost. Less weight equals benefits to speed and stamina restoration. Also allow for multiple equips of the same gear type if the points are available for it.
The gas effect you mention, I have a theory as to how a grenade like the ACIG would work. Instead of being a full on EMP, the grenade instead charges the the ambient moisture in the jungle air with an excess of ionization thereby causing the interference with the Predator’s cloaking field, basically the same effect as the field being directly exposed to water. It would mean that the light-bending cloak technology is reliant upon controlling and manipulating the electromagnetic field of the Pred’s body, possibly tied into their bioelectric signature. Would also explain why the weapons that they are holding can remain cloaked as well if they are able to conduct that bioelectric field as a part of their material properties/construction.
I get it.
The bomb is also an excess of moisture and the emp is there to invert what the predator cloak produces. The gas is essentially the moisture, the sparks are the EMP.
Otherwise, without the emp his cloak would automatically restart once out of the cloud.
–at least from what @kryatin had posted, he implied that the corruption lasts for as long as the bomb lasts which is around 10 seconds.
I agree very heavily with you. It’s useful enough as it is, but it can’t be leaned on as a one-pop-and-win kind of gear.
Also yes, the effect lasts for a set amount of time; leaving the area does not let you recloak. However, it’s worth noting that standing in a body of water will also prevent you from re-enabling your cloak even after leaving it for about two seconds, so I’m not sure if there’s some form of electro-magnetic pulse working with the burst of moisture that @W0LFsR4GE suggested or not.
Regardless, I think it’s a pretty cool gadget. It’s nice that it’s the perfect balance of not being too busted, but forces the pred to switch positions and be on the run for a while until he breaks line of sight.
ACIG grenades can be replenished past what you brought in through ammo crates. I believe I held 5 at one time.
