Add Tutorial Videos

In the Extras section of the Main Menu, you can add some tutorial videos to help out the newer players. You can have a video that teaches the basics of fireteam gameplay like how to mud up, do objectives, etc. Then you can have a video that gives the player some advanced tips like how to parry, how to spot, etc. Then do the same thing for Predator gameplay.

Take a look at Evolve’s tutorial videos for example.

Evolve had mechanics and phases though so it had tutorials and things to explain that involved more than just hitting a single button. Explaining pouncing and eating different buffs was relevant because there was more to the game than just running at the team of 4 immediately and trying to wipe them.

PHG has holding the interact button for FT.
I don’t think i’ve seen a tutorial for a game that’s like…

Look at the ground and press interact
Look at the alarm and press interact
Look at the audio tape and press interact
Look at the bear trap and press interact
Look at your teammate and press interact
Look at the veritanium and press interact
Look at the reinforcement radio and press interact
uhhh here’s the voice line wheel
Press X to Jump!

I’d rather they just add a tooltip that says knife can parry, all the new players are gone at this point. They’re like 3 launches late for a tutorial.
Those players can’t spot because they can’t aim in general.

PHG also has elements that involve more than just pressing a button. For example, cooking the reinforcement radio, jumping on to a tree branch directly, hiding the plasma laser, how to find the fireteam.

Yeah, tool tips are okay too, but I feel like visuals would be more helpful for the newcomers. There’s still a lot of new players though, I ran into so many newbs today while I was playing.

The only one of those that are even a legit mechanic is jumping onto a tree branch directly and it doesn’t even work consistently if the elevation is even a tiny bit off.

Turning around in the tree to hide your biomask flashing isn’t a gameplay mechanic its just a workaround for poor third person design.
It’d be like telling people to mash jump so that maybe the melee tracking will fail to connect.

Still, those are things that experienced players know about and noobs don’t know about. A video giving players tips on how to cook the reinforcement radio and how to find the fireteam would help them a lot. Even just one video explaining how to parry would make a lot of these potato players a lot more useful to the team.

Parries, spotting, reinforcements, STICKING TOGETHER, and getting out of traps. These five are the biggest issues I’ve seen while playing. Of course, I don’t expect the ever-growing player base of kids 14 and under to sit through such tutorials, but anybody older with some sense of patience I feel would, and benefit from them.

The tutorials don’t have to be super long. A one minute video demonstrating the basics and another one minute video on the more advanced tricks are enough. I think a kid would be able to sit through these one minute tutorial videos.

They just need to…

This is fair. I would suggest maybe an AI Pred to help with certain things like the parrying, but if the FT bots are any example, I don’t think it would work too well lol

A tutorial would help them “git gud”

Yeah, I don’t think Illfonic would be able to make a proper AI pred lol
