Yeah. Shit things are shit. Something else being more shit doesn’t absolve its own shit.

Im going to completely ignore that.
So here is my comments on this short promo:

Noah claims that he wants to “remystify” the alien franchise. A “challenge” he proposes it is.
The inclusion of these new specimens haven’t really been argued. I think they are a good sophomore attempt at it. However the difference between Alien 79 and this is that Ridley included and invested in 1 soul creative that , at the time of experimentation or the aftermath of that in the 70s came HR Giger. Even though Ron Cobb was a compitent architectural designer and space vehicle designer, Giger was the night mare inventor.

HR Giger designed the Alien after being a very much arcane and prollific painter whom did some venturing and takes on a number of classics concepts for some well known films like Dune and Poltergeist. The latter of which actually saw light. He later designed SIL for the film Species which does have a cult following.

I really think that flare and mystery is taken away by not addressing Gigers involvement.
I don’t think its necessary to dwell on at this point since the season finale is pretty much hear and if it doesn’t haunt us the way Giger did I think the we might really know why we need Gigers involvement.

Could it happen? Could we see the Space Jockey again? Could we get the Derelict space craft (jauggernaut that we keep seeing the prequels)…well fuck if we don’t well Noah might really missed some important franchise notes. Could someone knock on his holy throne and ask him? or is he too busy being the arm chair vampire overwhelmed by his own ego?

I can see why they opted for these new types of aliens simply because we can easily identify its association with real earth biology but its very forgettable (all but the Eye Mage). I wouldn’t be surprised if we ultimately only get one carried over to the next season unless we see some introduction to the black goo and possibly mutate them in some way.

Contextually, they merely have no really interesting value other than they could be part of a different Earth (all but the Eye Mage). The Xenomorph however is associated with something much more dreadful.
I’d say they should really put the focus back on the xeno and its origins even if its drip fed to us.

Naw take aliens from noah and predator from dan and give them to ppl who are really fans not reading some scripted cliche “ive always been a fan” then proceed to change what made them iconic in the first place.

It doesn’t need a real fan. That obviously rings too much animosity from other ‘real fans’. They need to give it to seasoned veterans of a genre.
I would welcome a slight reboot, bring
Nic Pizzolatto

working with Scott Free to produce a season of taking whats left of season 1 and and going to LV-whatever. I mean people won’t like it, but i think its reasonable to reinvent the tone every season even if 3-4 cast members are carried over.

Noah spent lots of money on the bridges of the ships and the HQ of the island…but hey. Lets see a different take on a different alien engineer ship fraught with the same problem we saw in Alien…or even Aliens and expand on these ideas. Lets forget about the Eye Mage and start over with something new and daring.

Then maybe in season 3 we reboot it back to the bridges of the ships in season 1…reuse everything. That kind of thing.

That way, the entire franchise is extended over several seasons and we get to explore every thing we ever imagined but never saw!

The show may be called Alien Earth but there is no law that says they can’t keep the name and go off planet for an entire season.

Fede already wrote the next fillm…so nobody is going to expect a 3rd installment of prequel stuff unless Ridley still wants it, he could barter to have it in season 2!

I heard fede wasnt returning. As far as bringin seasoned vets i would agree but if theres executive tampering which seems like there is for everything disney pushes then it wont matter who is given the keys lets say.

Now either theres executive oversight or all these ppl they give these movies and shows all think alike for example, alien romulus, prey, badlands, alien earth all seem to have the same theme of men put in less believable roles and women in even less believable roles. Now i know some are gonna be triggered and throw the ists and all that but theres a difference between believable and not believable like ripley and sarah so its not a matter of “hating women” its a matter of contrived bad writing that gives them plot armor. Its a larger convo than i care to type but thats the jist.

Dan trachtenberg had said “i thought of naru cus that would be interesting” not really, now badlands having what ever her name is seems like trying to recreate a formula that was always present in predator not sayin its gotta be all beef cakes but it shouldnt be hard to tell the clear differences in what disney is going for and what fox had been goin for. Then you add in how theyve completely ruined everything theyve soaked up by recycling this failing formula. Sure maybe its “were trying to attract a modern audience” modern being referred to as what some ppl would call “woke” where if they were in touch, all thier new stuff wouldnt be failing as much so obviously more ppl dont like it vs ppl who do.

welp, one could only hope for something different. Except well, thats what they will do. Can’t say anyone can do anything but hope for the best.

One way they could do it, is if there was such a huge artisitic dispute between producers and writers, and a falling out where those who may have stake on the creative will choose to run a whole different franchise altogether but drag the intent and creative to a new creation but in the same vein as the original Alien 79.

Alien 79 was a box office flop. It succeeded because of a few good names and a cult following which is hard to swallow today.
But put a new name and few edgy directors and they could make a new alien poltigeist/ hell raiser. meaning no more Alien…and something new.

The film Species was a testiment to this change in power. It then went on to produce like 3-4 more sequels under the radar but was relatively good for a small production.

Just because Disney owns Alien and predator doesn’t mean they own everything and everyone.

Thats true but ppl aint gonna turn down a disney paycheck. And you sure alien flopped? I could sware it was a success maybe even huge success, actuallu sounded like you were describing the thing cus that wasnt originally well recieved but had the cult following and is now excepted as a classic. I could be wrong on alien but coulda swore i saw coverage of the release and there were lines of ppl and had alot of traction because of how diffetent it was for the time

ALien was rated R in 79. Of course it flopped at the box office over the months of release. I’m not saying anything in terms of long term success because that took well over 10 years to acclimate.
16.5 over 4 weeks over its 14 million budget.
So yes, in todays expectation that is a failure but those times were different. Im not going down that bunny hole but movies were funded differently then.

BUt expectations for this was on the cusp of speculation. the 80s were different. Lots differnt.
Some might even regard it as an art film and an expensive one. But it paved way for the genre.

you’re not from that time period. So you need to fact check why it was a critical success and out rightly demonized at the time when starwars just came out. Its budget was just as big.

If everyone put their money in the stock market in the 80s they would have come out wealthy. The baby boom generation.
FOX/Brandywine was in the same boat and knew alll the peices were in place, Ridley Scott made a great cult classic that made lots of money anyway because of its planned outlets. And they did.

And there was no Jar Jar, thank god.

Fast forward to today, everything might have to have a jar jar if its sci-fi and disney. It needs commercialization. Otherwise, we get nothing.
There are fewer and fewer indie films having great cult followings for being over the top.
We have low budget thrillers. Maybe even a wierd cgi puppet but nothing the scale of Alien.

I just think its becoming harder and harder to do even though technology is getting cheaper for what it can pull off. I think its mainly have to do with distribution and its ability to offset costs. Lots of the platforms to make money on indie films are gone.

Would you call shudder an indie type company? They got some alright scifi based movies, but i do see what your sayin tho. Yea im not from the time but from what ive heard from ppl that saw it upon release say it was a hit but if were comparing to star wars then lol i dont think any movie at the time could compete.

Have you watched the Documentary on Alien? called Memory The Origins of Alien (2019)?
Somewhere i heard people had fainted in the theatres. Lots of media frenzy.
The space jockey sculpt used in the film was set on fire by a group who thought it was anti-christian.
Im sure it did welll with adults because of the rated R rating. Eventually all the kids skipped the parental shit and snuck a viewing anyway.

Id say so. Much like Hulu. But they aren’t doing well. I heard HULU is going to be taken over by Disney or that Disney wants them to be engulfed.
LOL, just reading about Hulu. Its name is mandarin.

I havent actually but now that i know im honna search it up. Wasnt it disney plus that was gonna shut down and hulu was gonna stay? I think i heard that disney plus has lower subs than hulu unless i have it backwards

Disney is literally owning everything it touches. sooner or later. i mean every entertainment cloud company is getting a stock market presence. Thats why.

Ripley and Sarah are not believable roles. Sarah from T1 is a damsel in distress and then fast forward is tougher than most soldiers. Ripley never held a gun before, but after one demo from Reese, she’s all ready to take down alien nest.

So you can nit pick those but cant see issues with alien earth? Sarah went thru her hardening phase through out t1 with reese teaching her so when t2 happens we can infer she kept on with what she learned from t1 and is now not in distress but fighting back. Ripley had common sense and the same thing she had to go thru what she went thru in a1 and in a2 still wasnt wanting to deal with it til she had a change of heart. I find it funny that you can nit pick those in an attempt to justify what disney is doing to both franchises. Not even close friend. In disney every main character is already a “badass” no character building and if there is any its super minimal just to get across that they are plot armored super warriors.

In romulus you didnt point out that a worker whos never fired a gun…ever just picks one up and what do you know suddenly theres auto aim guns. Lazy and stupid just to push her as the “new” ripley in a sense even recreating a scene where you can hold up side by side with ripley and see the obvious rip off. But sure lets try to cut down the originals which are classics that stand through time in attempts to justify disneys horrible job they have done and its not just alien and predator its literally every IP theyve managed to monopolize that now all have some stupid social justice modern messages that nobody likes or cares to give attention to. The numbers prove that so hard to argue in favor of disney

Still not believable. I nitpick AE all the time but I still enjoy the sci-fi cause I like the monsters and the lore. I agree that Wendy isn’t it, but Sarah and Ellen were over the top too. Less than Wendy or whoever else in current movies, but still over the top.

The autoaim is on the gun not on the character. It actually shows that the character is weak in that skill and makes an adjustment to the tech to make character believable in that role. Yes, the tech might be too far out there, but so is most other futuristic tech
