I still wonder about replay
It still reminds me of the Alien arcade game.
I would be very surprised if the challenge cards not only make it head shot kills only (making it very hard) but slowing the aliens at the same time to the pace that resembles Resident Evil. Something like that is very attractive. changing the pace to resemble a brand new game style is the coolest thing ever, but we don’t know if they would do this.
In so far, its the pace of ACM which doesn’t make me excited at all. I like the graphics they got though, but that can’t be the only thing thats drawing people to this game. If reviews come back, and people call it “ACM with updated graphics”, ColdIron Studios are in for some hot water.
I like the franchise, i like the fact that they are bringing in the lore from other films, i ONLY don’t like the fact that they haven’t shed any light on what is DIFFERENT about the mechanics. Thats a very very vvery BIG thing for me in this game. The mechanics that are described, sure it sounds great on paper, but this is a cinematic game franchise, and we all wanted cinemetics for these games. BUT CINEMATICS were never discussed. EVER!
The screens shots look exactly like what ACM had and that was years ago. The NECA/Kenner idea was done YEARS AGO. Shooting aliens and having them explode into pieces was done in the year 1999!
To me, the development path was already refined to the point that they would have been finished the core of the game in less than a year.How long have they developed this game for?
Can they say they experimented with some new ideas? No…they won’t share that information.
This is whats problematic. and if they don’t share this information come release, they are just dangling this game based on marketing that existed in 1999 when the first AVP came out.
The only shining light in all this is what you can expect from a horror film, be prepared to be surprised. If you’re not, then it will fail.
People that want RE are going to be playing Village and all its additional modes not a 4 hour arcade hallway shooter with an alien skin
Better comparison for popularity is like Zombie Army 4 lol.

I was pretty excited seeing that game. Pityful though, i’m not sure ill get around to playing it. Looks great though. just not the experience i want. Great concept but should have been apart of some larger game.
But thats the problem with zombie shooters, in that they arent part of a larger scope. Aliens franchise games though is. And as long as the franchise scope feeds their audience then they are ok beacuse there will always be films being made. Zombie games is a harder sell unless they can build upon a franchise scope.
Hense, RE has an enormous franchise scope even though they are essentially a zombie game.
Its not the concept. Its the gameplay being repetitive and boring.
RE7 had like 5 mold enemies and Jack and no real progression systems and made it work.
It’s a dev talent issue and people making games as a paycheck that even they dont want to play.
Another example: Dying Light. Devs doing their own thing successfully with zombies and unique gameplay because they have an ounce of creativity.
