Alien: Rogue Incursion re release

coming to ps5 and pc in september. did anyone play this? how was it?

Was this the VR game?

yeah i think so

Playing this now:
My thoguhts on the evolved edition:
Runs smooth as butter.
Game breaking bug for me on the first damn door to the save as it wouldn’t let me walk or aim direction.
Aliens look like nobody gave any time for it to be textured.
The pulse rifle sounds like a hairspray can inside a can, i have a subwoofer and it literally sounds like someone using a spray can.
Switching weapons using the wheel is tedious if you’re out of ammo on one of them. because it won’t let you switch. Using the middle mouse button is a shit idea to throw those grenades because its the same button that shows up to switch weapons. Thats got to change.
The acting is a bit inconsistent with the lead female. I can’t tell sometimes if its the same person. Tone changes dramatically.
Overall gameplay is hard to figure out what with the tremendously erroneous need to have change the view from your tablet, to a zoomed in on a tablet then to the motion tracker, then the crouch is like next to every goddamn button there. Its a poorly thought out port but I don’t know how it plays on VR.

So many buttons on a keyboard and they happened to choose the worse layout not to mention the UI is like most cheaper games, not very well designed and literally making feel like it was made on a commodore 64 rather than designed by a professional to look like a commodore 64 interface.

Was it worth the price? Nope, download play an hour or two, you’ll ask for your money back.

If the second one comes out and then offers updates to this one, then maybe id give it another try.

The animation direction is too over the top with the xenos. They almost literally used the same models as in AFTE but the way they made their mouths open, and their stances are toonish. I hate it when they give toon animators leverage over art direction, it screws everything up.

Someone touched up the original soldier alien and made certain ornaments way too big, coiled way too small, ridged tops to diverse, and deleted all the bump mapping. Its done with out much respect or maybe just a way to stand out amongst the other games. Pose to pose animations are stuff you’d never see the xeno do ever.

The shaders look daft. Little effects added to anything.
Everywhere where there is glass, there is this janky low resolution look to it.

It feels like a PS3 Port of an old game which was remastered with little resources, talent or vision but given all the benefits of using the latest UE5 engine while making it a VR game. Yet the people who owned the VR game never got the simple feature of TURNING VR OFF. Instead they need to buy it at the price of a new game.

Anyone who might make a comparison video might be damning the devs for it.

PSVR2 was very enjoyable for me. Would recommend playing in VR. But dont buy a VR system just for this game. Phasmophobia is fun af on VR too

i find it questionable when I would need to downgrade a game to play it on VR.then upgrade the game for the same price just to play it as a traditional monitor game.

I really want to try, but meta quest is like 700 bucks cad. ultimately i don’t want to to shell out all that cash just to play something that already would use my i9 and my RTX4080.

They say you can’t get any type of VR goggles that is void of a CPU and GPU built in…therefore the whole thing is still a cash grab.

well 4 days later and i’m 80 percent done.
I’d say I like the way the aliens are populated. Its very much scripted mostly however I never stick around to wait until my last one is long go to see if it triggers them again.

Otherwise, its not bad. Its fairly believable but at least predicable enough to know the number of aliens in one area rather them spewing at you at once or in a sequence.
That said, their wall crawling is more believable than AFTE as their behavours are less predicable.
There is one xeno type mainly and thats the warrior type for most of the game. It kind of feels lame that way. I would have liked smaller, taller, lighter, darker, etc just to make it less mundane. That wouldn’t have taken much work to do either and could have made it slightly more interesting and something to write home about.

Again, I stated the UI of the terminals look rather big and bulky. Items like books/cups/ bbinders are all duplicated all over the place and feels unnatural not really lived in. Details are important and I think they spent not alot of time on making this game. I question the shear scale of each object as it doesn’t quite feel realistic more like a cartoon of something.

The experience and writing is still fairly decent. Jump scares plenty.
Apparently Zula and Davis are featured in Alien Resistance and Defiance comic book from dark horse. Something that I think was a nice touch.

I changed my keyboard keybinds to play this game. Mainly crouch.
