Only got this game recently as I didn’t have time to game much last few years. And…what the hell is this?
I got this game to play as the Predator, and instead I’m getting slaughtered from the other side of the map, while cloaked and doing basically no damage (unless I blow my energy reserves then I’m uncloaked anyway and it’s even worse). Tried energy reserves, light bender and modified reserve, which helps, but you feel like you’re constantly having to mess about with everything just to find the fire team without them seeing you instantly, while cloaked, and survive enough to do some damage before they kill you from a distance - or worse if you actually attack with melee even with the damage perks which waste valuable space better spent elsewhere. I could obviously use berserker but I hate how that looks and everything else that comes with that class.
Like, I heard this used to be good and enjoyable, is this true? Imagine feeling like a Yautja while doing decent damage and being able to actually kill the team in a realistic hit from a plasma caster or a combistick, instead of having to do some spectacular dance with your weapon that takes about five seconds - constantly hitting the team who just stand and tank it while spraying you and boom, dead. The team would actually have to coordinate in order to kill you, suspenseful and utilising what you have as a team. The cloak should also be infinite unless hit or obviously wet, as in all Yautja media, what the hell is this?
Instead I’m being hunted down across the map by humans, while cloaked and draining energy just to use my thermal to even find the damn team and missing everything I throw or shoot due to the humans movement speed, the bow is a nightmare on console due to the pinpoint accuracy being offset by how quick the target moves, so you have to stand within obvious shooting range while blasting arrows with nothing behind them and hope for a headshot, while they all know instantly where you are and take you down in seconds.
Also, apologies for the rant but this is such a shame, along with obviously no campaign so you can’t even feel like a Yautja there either. Im paying £14.00 for the AVP 2010 game as it’s far superior in my opinion and actually fun. Shameful for a game brought out 15 years later with the potential they had.
Also, I heard you can use thermal and cloak infinitely as scout provided you aren’t using you’re caster (you know, like every predator in every movie has always done without having to uncloak Infront of a team of armed humans due to ‘low energy’, but I assume we’ve been stripped of this too as I can’t seem to get it, is that true? Hot garbage. I didn’t but this game to be equal to a group of humans I bought it to play as a hunter, this is just… nonsensical.
Others have commented similar and reported they’ve all been ignored, just thought I’d add to the long list of complains they refuse to fix. Also, I have to pay for gimmick classes in order to actually attempt to play the way I want a bit more, but I’m stuck aesthetically with some weird crap a Yautja would never wear that looks horrendous and doesn’t go with the mask I want? Jesus Christ.
Thanks if you’ve read this far, I’ll keep trying it as I do enjoy some aspects but a massive failure on what could’ve been brilliant. If I’m going massively wrong let me know as I’m more than open to constructive criticism, I’m also level 60 so I’ve not just started playing without giving it a good go either.
