Auto Empowerement of The Predator

I used to play a lot of Friday, at any time you can go into combat stance and get a melee lock on. Let’s say Jason is out side the cabin but you don’t know for sure or where because he’s using Stalk, you go into combat stance and if he’s hiding on the other side of the wall/door, you’ll target him.

I can just imagine how the Pre-made’s will bitch FT has wall hacks and stealth is now garbage, yadda yadda.

Well, if illfonic can’t figure that out, I guess they should avoid the aim assist. It would be tragic, such a simple fix holding console players back. It’s not like they’re inventing the wheel. There are so many pvp games that have already done aim assist right for over a decade.

True! Sorry for the wrong terminology. I mentioned that topic so often, that I did not want to go into detail in the headline text again.

It might be introduced later, I can only guess at the programming difficulties they might face that other games don’t have to worry about, like one player having a cloak.

Sorry, I really better would have gone into more detail concerning the topic aim assist. This is a topic, which from my POV is mainly important for PS4 players. PCs are good enough with aiming already.

So just add aim assist for PS4 and there will be (nearly) no cheating (possible). My impression is, that cheating on the PC side already is a real problem yet. So, agreed, one should not worsen this.

Should I add the info “aim assist” and “just PS4” to the first entry in this post and mark that as “aposteriori” or how should we proceed with this?

That’s easy, because they already have a function for “not moving 2 seconds + cloaked = invisible,” so add, “invisible = not detectable by aim assist.” If they can change the damage value of slam through surfaces, then it should be a cakewalk to figure out how to disable aim assist on invisible predators.

Sure, that works fine when they aren’t moving. I’m talking about when they are moving. I’m not opposed to helping players on my platform, simply worried it will be one more division and argument.

I really need to try it, to give feedback on whichever aim assist we go with.

As others already stated: aim assist is nothing new in the world of games. I recently played DOOM 2016 on a PS4 - which has a checkbox “Zielhilfe” (which translates to “aim assist”, I guess).

DOOM 2016 is gorgeous concerning the usage of a controller. Running, jumping, aiming - all comes quite naturally and smooth. I did not analyze how they do it exactly - but if Illfonic needs a “gold standard example” - feel free to have a look into that game…

I came from PC and had some prejudices about using a controller - in DOOM I loved it!!!

Dear illfonic i bought a console and cant aim. Can you play the game for me…pretty please

A mouse can change directions over a center axis immediately, such as from left to right or up to down. A joystick going from left to right or up to down has to move to the center to stop acceleration in one direction and move across the center to start accelerating in the opposite direction. This puts controllers at a functional disadvantage, no matter how much skill you build. Good first person shooters on console always have aim assist, and any game with crossplay should definitely give controller players aim assist.

I guess you are the type of person, who switches the ABS and ESP/ESC off, when entering a car, right? Yeah, could be fun too… :))

But think about a competition, in which one part of the players drive highly motorized FERRARIs, whereas the other part of players drive poorly motorized FIATs - really want that? Where is your sportsmanship…

Winning against such FIATs is not glorious at all :)

@FIAT fans: no harm meant. Great cars. But no Ferraris. I know I know, Ferrari once was Fiat. Cool down, just an example… :))

I own a 69 ss and have zero issues. But i see asshats crashing everyday with all those features… if you dont understand what im saying then its over your head

That quite depends on where you live. Drive your 69 ss through the alps in winter, you probably won’t be able to ramp up a mountain having snow and ice on the street - at all…

But: nice car, appreciated. And personally I do prefer cars/motorcycles with such a “pure” feeling too. I think, you noticed the “:))” in my post.

But -at least- when talking about competition, I would favor assisted systems in many situations. And an ABS is quite nice, your feets cannot be as fast…

PS: i drove a motorbike some ten years through every winter - so, I know what you are talking about :))

Im fucking with you. To add it to disc or combi throw. Since its projectile based… i dont think it will help preds… it will help ft. Making ps4 players less potato aim

Ya, it is true that the aim assist or auto aim or whatever has to be carefully balanced and it might be, that it should be different for preds and fts.

If one just plays with PS4 players, the topic might not be overly important (although a missing aim assist favors some playing styles). But when playing crossplay, the aiming issue is quite dominant from my POV.

And really, if you once played games like DOOM 2016 and then starts with Predator Hunting Grounds, the whole controlling seems to be crude.

That is not just a question of “auto” things or not, but also a question of e.g. stick-acceleration-curves and predators getting stuck by mini stone nearly invisible and so on.

And if you ask me, the predator play would benefit more by improvements in this area - as the predator control is far worse than the ft-control yet - at least from my experience.

But true, it is not just a pred topic, yeah…
